The chapter opens with Harald executing his latest mission for the World Government, cutting down pirate crews with ruthless efficiency. His reputation spreads quickly whispers of a "monster in the mist" echo through the underworld. Harald has become what the World Government calls a "God's Blade," the lowest tier in their three-rank seal system that marks those bound to their service.

We learn that the World Government's tattoo system has three distinct levels: God's Blade at the bottom (similar to Gurnko's rank), followed by two higher classifications that remain unnamed for now. Harald bears this mark, a symbol of his servitude to the Celestial Dragons.

The narrative jumps back fifteen years to a shocking revelation: Shanks was the one who freed Fisher Tiger. When Harald encounters Shanks later, the red-haired pirate is covering his left eye with a patch. Their meeting is tense Shanks was actively gathering intelligence on Mary Geoise and the World Government's operations, clearly working some angle even back then.

Meanwhile, tragedy strikes Elbaf. Ida, a beloved figure, is poisoned by someone from Estrid's hometown. When Loki discovers what happened, his fury is absolute. He descends upon the village in vengeance, declaring to everyone who will listen: "Ida is my only mother!" His rampage leaves the settlement devastated.

In additional backstory fragments, we see Harald's rise through the World Government's ranks. After stopping a pirate ship drifting through thick fog near the Florian Triangle, rumors begin circulating about a massive shadowy figure haunting those waters possibly Harald's handiwork contributing to the region's dark legends.

The Five Elders themselves summon Harald, marking his arm with what they call the "Shallow Sea" seal the entry level of their three-tier system (Shallow, Deep, and Abyssal, with Abyssal being the highest). This happens during the chaos of the Great Pirate Era's beginning, when the Marines desperately recruit giants to bolster their military strength.

At the God Knights' headquarters, Harald meets Garling, who provides him with a specialized creature for instant communication a tool that suggests Harald's importance to their operations.

The chapter reveals that during Fisher Tiger's famous escape, a masked God Knight deliberately cut his restraints, allowing him to flee. Later, in Mary Geoise, Harald is introduced to both Shanks and someone called "Shamrock Knights." Shanks has just accepted a Shallow Sea pact and joined the God Knights immediately, his exceptional talents apparently matching those of Shamrock, another rising star in the Holy Land.

When Harald tries to place Shanks's face, the red-haired man coldly dismisses him as "nobody." Yet the chapter heavily implies Shanks was Tiger's mysterious liberator.

Back on Elbaf, Ida's condition worsens to the point where local healers cannot help her. Harjudin sets sail to find a healer from distant lands. When Loki learns of this and suspects deliberate poisoning his protective rage explodes, leading to his assault on Ida's village.

About

One Piece Manga Online
One Piece (Japanese: ワンピース Hepburn: Wan Pisu) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997, and has been collected into 94 tankobon volumes.

Enter Monkey D. Luffy, a 17-year-old boy that defies your standard definition of a pirate. Rather than the popular persona of a wicked, hardened, toothless pirate who ransacks villages for fun, Luffy’s reason for being a pirate is one of pure wonder; the thought of an exciting adventure and meeting new and intriguing people, along with finding One Piece, are his reasons of becoming a pirate. Following in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Luffy and his crew travel across the Grand Line, experiencing crazy adventures, unveiling dark mysteries and battling strong enemies, all in order to reach One Piece.

Man, this makes me want to re-read Loki’s flashback from the beginning and compare how he was with Ida to how he’s become now. He really is a kind person deep inside. Oda handled this so well. I remember the scene where she offered him juice, and he yelled at first, then accepted it gratefully. It was cute.

Shanks looks smarter as God' Knight than as a pirate. Remember in his piracy flashback during the time of Luffy's earliest childhood and Luffy got kidnapped hahahaha he was portrayed like an idiot back then.

Harald:
“Officers of the Navy! Dignitaries of the World Government! Please, hear me out.
Allow me to atone for a thousand years of Giant violence.
I want to apologize for all the mistakes Giantkind has made.
I swear an oath of peace, so the children of Elbaf can live fruitful lives, without hurting anyone, so they can walk hand in hand with humanity.
If I have to be a slave to prove this to the world, then so be it.”

Also Harald, freshly ‘redeemed’ and proudly serving the same World Government:
Immediately demonstrates his new “peaceful” ideals by gleefully brutalizing pirates on command, because apparently violence is evil… unless you’re doing it for the people who own your chains.

Oda can't help but to glaze Shanks, fucking GOAT indirectly freed my personal GOAT Boa Hancock!

What a good freaking chapter... and Shanks getting the Abyssal Mark confirmed and why he allowed his arm to get chopped.

If the 15 years time line is correct, either he formed his crew insanely fast or he already had it formed before becoming a God's Knight to do recon for the Nika fruit or some other reason. Maybe Shanks returning ro Mariejois has something to do with the thing Roger told him that made him cry... that he was the child of a Celestial Dragons?

As much as I love this for Shanks I don't like it for Fisher Tiger. I guess that's partly my own fault for falling for Boa's hype, but she spoke of that man as an unstoppable force. Now we know that not only was he a slave himself but he needed to be freed in order to lead his rebellion.

Man, Shanks dedicated his entire adult life in laying the grounds for someone else to come save the world. That's some deep deep commitment and loyalty for Roger's. What a guy! What I need to know is how did Roger know his heritage? Where did the child of destiny idea come from? Was that part of Joyboy's message? And is that the reason why Shanks' began to cry?

Harald's choices are distressingly true to life.

Harald as a character would make a lot more sense if we as readers had a better overall view of giants being this absolute menace for a thousand years. Yes, we're constantly TOLD via narration and character hyping up the giants that they were these Bad Motherfuckers until Dory and Brogy got sidetracked, but we never SEE our Fun Big Buddies doing anything that horrible. Even the tiny bits in this whole flashback showing Young Harald don't really jive with this millennium of violence he's trying to atone for.

So while we have the evidence of words that Harald has this massive debt of violence to be paid, what we mostly see with giants is that they're fun-loving dorks who have a cultural arrested development, a peoples that 'simply don't know better'. Which is itself extremely problematic in a way I'm unequipped to unpack.

Is this Odas way of stuffing the "plot hole" of Shanks getting his arm bitten of by a lowly east blue sea monster people were criticizing and finding odd? If so, he chose to traumatize Luffy as a side quest?

I'd rather have Fisher Tiger having found a way to free himself and then finding the will in his heart to free humans rather him getting first saved by a human. Now it begs the question, why did Shanks pick Fisher Tiger out of all the slaves?

This just came to me after reading that Shanks has his left eye covered not with eye patch but with bandages. What if those bandages are hiding the fresh wounds given by Blackbeard. And what if those scars are actually a decoy, because Teach and Shanks are long time partners? They met each other, Blackbeard revealed he his Rocks son, and they set up a plan to take down the WG. That's why Shanks infiltrated. That would explain why Shanks tried to stop Ace, and stopped the war. That would also explain how Shanks got the knowledge about the Nika fruit. The only thing that doesn't exactly fit has to do with where did the knowledge of the Nika fruit come from. If it came from Teach then it wouldn't make sense for Teach wanting to capture Luffy to hand him over to the marines to become a Shichibukai. But, if Shanks learnt about the Nika fruit in Marijoua, then it could fit. Blackbeard might have the Yami Yami that belong to Davy D Jones, and Luffy has the nika fruit from Joyboy. So, Shanks pacts with Blackbeard to carry out the will of Davy D. Jones, but has Luffy has a backup plan to carry out the will of Joyboy.

I'm overall quite happy with the info in the chapter.
We got the confirm that there were essentially ranks to the regen, and now we got it.
Gunko was used as an example here, but Gunko enjoys many unique privileges (curses) including being Imu's attendant, having her memories blocked, having her lord and savior crawl into her brain and turn her into a gun succubus when her lord and savior is throwing a tantrum--all that considered, Gunko while holding that rank probably has multiple other effects applied to her.
Fisher Tiger being brought back in is cool. The scene of Shanks crying when meeting Roger is cool too. Never expected him actually going for it and snooping around the holy land, but he did good stuff with the opportunity, it seems.

For Imu, Gorosei and Tenryuubito, bloodline is decisive. It's no surprise for me that even as Roger's crewmate, Shanks could directly join HK because of the simple fact that he is a Figarland.

I'm not sure where this sits in the timeline, but my guess is that after reaching Laugh Tale, the worldview of Roger pirates has completely shifted. They decided to pave a road leading to a goal in the future. Shanks, despite not actually being on the final island, was in my opinion directly involved to this vague plan. He probably was even the most important or at least the key figure in this. I believe it's something about the Nika DF and the Harald - WG affiliation forced him to act that way. Acquiring key intel or a certain item could also be an objective.

So, all those people criticising Dragon for not going to Mariejoa and being trash because Fisher Tiger did... turns out Fisher Tiger had help, which makes so much sense.
As I'd been saying from time ago, Fisher Tiger was lucky. Mariejoise is not somewhere you just infiltrate and leave scot-free. It's like using Luffy's escapades for reason why something can be done .... "well Luffy broke into ID and escaped.... it's clearly easy"... as if he didn't have a shit tonne of luck and protagonist plot armour to make it possible (e.g. Hancock falling for him, Buggy helping, Bonclay sacrificing himself, Ivankov healing him, etc).
But let's not forget, common sense doesn't matter, Dragon is still a scrub, lol.

Harald is def making the best of a bad situation, especially since he doesn't seem to know about Imu, which Rocks prob failed to properly talk to him about. Things will def balance out more once Hajrudin and Loki actually start cooperating in light of Harald's death.

I agree that Shanks spying on the Celestial Dragons makes sense. I wonder why though? Is he working with Dragons revolutionary army? Is being an emperor another way for him to keep peace and still get to whatever goal he has in mind. It’s nice to get this chapter but it brings up more questions. But I’m sure his no celestial dragon.

So it's looking like the theories about mosa and shirahoshi were correct. But if that is the case then it means something is happening that makes it so that shirahoshi can't even answer a call. Which is... strange. Its been some days since egghead and the strawhats are screwing around while mostly out of reach from their other friends so i wonder if BB already targetted fishman island thanks to caribous information.

This in turn is likely an interesting setup because theres a good chance loki will want to join BBs crew. In which case he'd join only to find a kidnapped shirahoshi.

This chapter was pretty good on learning a lot of historic context.

Seems Shanks battle with Teach was when he was 24 so he must have formed his crew at that point but was not know yet? He did have 5 years post Rogers death so not sure if he just sailed around by himself. The fact he's able to hide his past means he had no bounty at that point and was just doing this in the shadows like BB. Wonder why he ever went to the Holy Land? Maybe he learned about Void Century from Roger and he intended to find more info so he could fulfill the prophecy.

Loki's relationship to Ida is sweet. He at least got to have a more normal life after starting to live with her and Hajrudin. I'm glad he avenged her but sucks he had to lose her at all. Harald honestly seems like a deadbeat. He didn't do anything to raise his sons and he put all this effort in trying to get WG to accept him, all of which just led to Elbaphs ruin. His life just seems like a total F.

Random aside, wtf is with Neptune. Loki was already like 60 years old and he's asking to betroth his un-conceived baby?
