There are moments in One Piece where the story stops feeling like a pirate adventure and starts leaning into something far older something mythological, almost biblical in scale. The latest revelations surrounding Imu, the so-called “King of the World,” are exactly that kind of moment. This isn’t just another villain introduction. This feels like the unveiling of a god… or perhaps a devil.
From the very beginning, the Five Elders’ reaction already tells us everything we need to know. These are not men who fear easily yet here they are, trying to stop Imu from leaving the castle, even offering to send an Admiral in their place. That hesitation speaks volumes. Imu isn’t just their superior. He’s something they themselves cannot fully control.

And then, the story cuts to Elbaph an island already steeped in legend. It’s here that things begin to spiral into something far darker. While Gerd discovers Sommer’s heart and Zoro considers destroying it, the real shift happens elsewhere: Aurust Castle.
Imu appears.
Not with subtlety. Not with quiet menace. But with a massive burst of Conqueror’s Haki that feels almost apocalyptic.
A King, or Something Beyond Human?
The reveal of Saint Nerona Imu is striking not just visually, but symbolically.
He is described as a man with a beautiful face, tanned skin, long white hair, and features that blur the line between angel and demon: wings, horns, and a devil’s tail. It’s a design that feels intentional in its contradiction. He looks divine… and yet undeniably cursed.
The introduction box confirms what many have speculated for years:
- One of the Twenty Founders of the World Government
- Possessor of a “Devil Fruit”
- The true King of the World
But those titles almost feel insufficient once you see what he becomes.
As Imu settles atop the highest tower of Aurust Castle, the environment itself begins to react. Houses and trees come alive, their faces twisted into eerie laughter. This isn’t just power it’s corruption. The kind that spreads, infects, and reshapes reality.
The Presence of a Living Myth
There’s something deeply unsettling about the details of Imu’s form.
His horns curve twice, forming an “S”-like shape an oddly specific design that feels symbolic, though its meaning isn’t yet clear. His body bears white circular tattoos, including a haunting eye on his right hand and markings across his face. These aren’t just decorations; they feel ritualistic, almost sacred—or profane.
Then there are the clouds.
Fans familiar with awakened Zoan users will recognize the black hagoromo-like clouds that surround him. But Imu’s are different. Instead of simple swirls, they contain eyes watching, aware, almost alive. The comparison to Ophanim, those surreal “biblically accurate angels,” is hard to ignore. Except here, the effect isn’t holy. It’s terrifying.
Even his weapon reflects this unnatural presence: a polearm with a jagged, curved blade, wrapped in those same ominous clouds. There’s blood at the corner of his mouth, a small detail that adds a disturbing sense of violence like we’ve caught him mid-transformation, or mid-feeding.
Conqueror’s Haki… or Something More?
Imu’s Conqueror’s Haki isn’t just strong it feels different.
Where most users dominate others, Imu seems to dominate the world itself. The environment reacts, bends, and distorts under his presence. It raises an unsettling question: is this still Haki as we understand it, or something that has evolved beyond it?
If Haki is willpower, then Imu’s will might be absolute.
The True Weight of This Reveal
What makes this moment so impactful isn’t just the design or the power it’s what it represents for the story moving forward.
For years, Imu has been a shadow, a name whispered behind the scenes. Now, he stands fully revealed, and the scale of the final conflict becomes clearer. This isn’t just Luffy versus the World Government anymore.
This is freedom versus something ancient. Something that has ruled from the shadows since the very foundation of the world.
And perhaps most importantly: something that may not even be fully human anymore.
Final Thoughts
There’s a reason some fans are being advised to wait for the actual chapter images. This kind of reveal isn’t just meant to be read it’s meant to be experienced. The design, the atmosphere, the sheer presence of Imu… it’s the kind of moment that defines arcs, maybe even the entire series.
If this is truly the “incarnation” of Nerona Imu, then we may be looking at the closest thing One Piece has ever had to a final boss.
And for the first time, the question isn’t just whether Luffy can win.
It’s whether anyone can stand against something like this at all.

About
One Piece Manga Online
One Piece (Japanese: ワンピース Hepburn: Wan Pisu) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997, and has been collected into 94 tankobon volumes.
Enter Monkey D. Luffy, a 17-year-old boy that defies your standard definition of a pirate. Rather than the popular persona of a wicked, hardened, toothless pirate who ransacks villages for fun, Luffy’s reason for being a pirate is one of pure wonder; the thought of an exciting adventure and meeting new and intriguing people, along with finding One Piece, are his reasons of becoming a pirate. Following in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Luffy and his crew travel across the Grand Line, experiencing crazy adventures, unveiling dark mysteries and battling strong enemies, all in order to reach One Piece.

Imu must be equal of Enel as some enemy in time skip mirrors some main villain in before time skip. The villain who killed his own kind and has god complex and hax power.
ReplyDeleteI think "Devil Fruit" in here is more like "Nika fruit" or "Nidhogg Fruit" than just devil fruit in generał - devilish powers of Luciphher, Belzeebub or Baal (I hope it will be named).
ReplyDeleteOn the second thought... Maybe Imu is not a lunarian but lunarians and maybe ancien Giants has a Blood of devil to some degree in them and that's why they look like that. We saw many hybrids in One Piece... Giants/devil hybrid = ancient giant, human/devil hybrid = lunarians.
I think it could be something along those lines: Imu being the last survivor of the original race that lived atop the Red Line BEFORE the Moon People and humanity invaded their land. Their invasion provoked the Earth God, leading to the end of the world through death and destruction—and this original race is actually the source of the mix (ranging from the Ancient Giants to the Lunarians)
ReplyDeleteI need to outwait April Fools to be able to believe in anything at 100% but "spoilers" says Imu is bleeding and I'm still curious why. He wasn't even physically there and somehow Lokis attack hurt him? Weird. Also if we really get Imus face reveal then it will finally end that nonsense with Imu being portrayed as almost naked woman in veil.
ReplyDeleteWhy would the Gorosei suggest sending and admiral or going themselves instead of Imu going himself?
ReplyDeleteDo they not remember trying that on Egghead like 3 days ago? They really think it’s going to go better when it would mean adding Loki, Scopper, and and even more giants to the list of opponents?
A WG founder with both Lunarian and Ancient Giant/Oni horns attributes is abnormal
ReplyDeleteThese 2 humanoic races have been allied to Joy Boy and are almost all extinct by now
All 20 kingdoms are said to be human races, why would they have such an hybrid humanoid as a king in a world where it was said that travel was very limited
If this is not April’s fool, then Imu must have altered his lineage factor through his Devil DF. For instance doing demonic blood pacts with a Lunarian and Oni persons and retrieving their lineage factor data to upgrade himself as a Demon. Kinda like Muzan in Demon Hunter.
On a side note, the God’s Knight Sommers’ abnormal heart may have something to do with the immortal surgery from the Ope Ope no Mi that we all expect Imu to have received around 800y ago. We know God’s Knights received some of Imu attributes through demonic partnership.
We know that when holy knight/saint is defeated Imu takes damage.
ReplyDeleteWe also know that someone is laying siege on the Holy Land.
Makes me think that the key to defeating Imu is killing off his puppets one by one.
Since this concept was introduced I was thinking that the Imu will go down fighting Luffy and taking damage by loosing his puppets to Teach in another location. It’d be a nice touch if Teach indirectly helps defeat Imu and takes over the Holy Land to become the final boss - maybe even eat Imus df as his final power up before the last arc..
Alternatively it could be Dragon/RA cleaning up the Holy Land which is probably less dramatic but still a reasonable assumption. The only problem here is tgat RA has much less firepower to deal with gorosei and holy knights than Teach.
I mean, Sommers was summoned to Elbaf midsnack, and most people don’t even seem to know that Gods Knights are even a thing.
ReplyDeleteThey might be a bit more active than they’ve been shown to be, but if they are, they have been more undercover than the CP0 agents, and apparently super bad at their jobs, unless the world just sucking is their end goal.
The only ones who have known about them so far is Brook and Scopper. That implies they aren’t really an active force. It’s understandable for uninformed idiots like Luffy to not have heard of them, but people like Jimbei or Robin?
Average people shit their pants over the thought of a Buster Call, or Whitebeard being pissed off. Why has no one ever been terrified that the God’s Knights might show up/prayed that the God’s Knights might come to save them?
The Roger Pirates had no clue who they were the first time they saw some, they were just weird dudes who could regenerate the first time they encountered them. Harald didn’t really have a clue what he was signing up for when he joined them. That doesn’t exactly scream “active in the world” to me.
Seeing Big Mom in the spoiler hints gave me a crazy thought.
ReplyDeleteThis is not the first time that a strawhat had a unique interaction with an enemy minion.
Brook was the natural enemy of the homies.
And now, presented with a similar powerset, Chopper is the natural enemy of the Reversi'd.
Interestingly, Chopper had the most exposure to Brook's soul when the pair were defeating homies on the Sunny. (This was when Katakuri called Brook the homies' natural enemy, I believe.)
Is it possible that Chopper, perhaps sensitive to "death" because of his profession, did what Brook did and got used to Soul energy. Or is Chopper just the narrative parallel of Brook in this situation?
Going further down the Brook path, does Brook's soul power have an effect here? Fact of the matter is that Gunko was drawn to Brook's music. Was it because of her subconcious looking for him, or does Brook's soul music play a factor in weakening Imu's hold?
I have to admit in certain cases.. the Regen is absolutely Useless... i mean if you have insanely powerful devil fruits and you can fight as the Gorosei is one thing...
ReplyDeleteBut having regular Devil fruits you can easily be chopped to bits to render you totally useless.. or worse... the enemy steal your body parts and keep them separated.. jesus in the sea, someone could even trow them overboard...
I still dont know how Killingham got decapitates... Maybe Franky's shot a beam to him?
I believe Blackbeard’s build-up points to him being the final pirate Luffy has to defeat to become the Pirate King. I’m also seriously considering the next arc being a full-scale war in the seas around Lodestar or somewhere else—mostly because I truly think that 'Battle Royale' Oda mentioned years ago in interviews (I think it was at a Jump Festa) is the next part of the saga.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, looking at the macro level of things, there’s a key point: Luffy’s dream. Blackbeard might be the enemy of Luffy’s first dream (becoming Pirate King), and besides Shanks, he’s the only true 'rival' Luffy has in that race right now. Imu isn't even in that race; they are already the King of the World - but the WORLD that Mu wants to create and Luffys "True" Dream could true be the biggest ideologic conflitc
Imu represents that much larger macro story Oda is building—the conflict between an ancestral, demonic entity and the yearning for freedom. But that’s just my take; I think your hypothesis is possible, just not probable.
For me, the things mentioned off-screen are starting to become relevant—like that massive 'spoiler' from 2015 about a final war against a 'demon' and his army (Imu was introduced about two years after that, if I recall correctly) against Luffy, who is already the Pirate King and has unified all the fighting forces.
And don't forget—Luffy is the destroyer of dreams and wills. Oda has always written it so that Luffy is the 'prophesied' one, and the promise that will be fulfilled is definitely JoyBoy's.
Blackbeard seems to be on the right track, but his worst enemy will be the D.estiny that guides the 'D'! It’s the same force that, unfortunately, led Xebec to face Imu at God Valley, and will make him face Luffy to soon.
If the galleilla folk were indeed frozen by ragnir it means the god of war of the past, possibly a king of elbaf, for some reason saw fit to freeze them forever. And now loki must pursue them to release them after hundreds of years. I think this plays weirdly into loki's curious relationship to shirahoshi. Nidhog and poseidon together and on top of that we have noah at fishman island which I would say is almost certainly built by galleilla. If only because there's no other obvious candidate for that. Crackpot theory in a random attempt to piece this together:
ReplyDeleteTime is supposedly weird at elbaf. I used to think this could be due to giants having no notion of it but now I am thinking there's some actual nonsense there that disrupt's everyone's sense of time equally. However it doesn't actually change the flow of time, just how it is perceived. WIth the weird passage of time at elbaf it means that not only mary geoise has gone through some nonsense but the rest of the world as well. If anything, considering the eve tree at mary geoise it could be affected as well by whatever shenanigan. And without the eve tree fishman island becomes a lightless pit in the deepest part of the ocean.
So what could happen now is that loki talks again to shirahoshi. She reveals the ever tree has been compromised and fishman island is suffering. She says she tried to get everyone aboard noah but the ship still has too much damage from when luffy fought hodi. And then noah gets people talking about galleilla. And their description gets the strawhats to remember seeing them at punk hazard. And then loki sets flight to release them so that they can repair noah. Then shenanigans depending on the circumstances of their freezing. The previous god of war could have frozen them either because they were too unruly or to have them survive until this age. If it's the first scenario then these savages will likely have to be beaten within an inch of their life.
It would make sense in 2 aspects since Rocks said the only person that could control the Galley La giants was:
ReplyDeleteHarald - Ancient Giant who is extremely strong (Giants only respect strength)
And Rocks wanted Harald to eat the legendary DF which might have been the only way to unfreeze the Galley La giants
Only odd thing is why would the Galley La be frozen? It could be that the former Nidhogg user froze them on purpose for his return in future the way Joyboy also believed someone would acquire his fruit,
It appears both Joyboy and Nidhogg were both allies, so I wouldn't think the theiry is that farfetched imo.
I think it's quite plausible. They bet on the future is my guess. These giants are literally posing.... I am betting they got frozen purposely and are awaiting to be awakened by the current Nidhogg.
Also, I believe this is the reason that Imu has come specifically is possibly because of this reason. Ironically, it appears the entire reason both Rocks and Imu were so interested in Harald was for this reason. Rocks also said the Galley La was an army he needed - so Imu probably also most definitely knew the importance of trying to acquire these Ancient Giants if possible which would add more meaning to the time Imu said... Harald was a once in a lifetime opportunity/gambit.
Also quite interesting that Rocks just like Blackbeard was going after 2 Devil fruits. Rocks never specified but he was definitely going after the Nidhogg... he knew there was a legendary DF on Elbaph (interestingly enough Imu didn't know this - this must have been one of the few bits of information passed on to the Davy Clan).
ReplyDeleteI'd also guess the other fruit was after was Nika, but I wonder if he even knew that in the first place.
Reason I bring this up is... did Blackbeard also go after 2 Devil fruits specifically because he was told that there are 2 DFs that allow one to take over the world? And if he didn't know the DFs were the Nidhogg specifically and Nika... it'd explain why he went after Whitebeard's fruit (Which Rocks wasn't interested in afaik) and the Yami Yami no Mi.
It would also explain why Blackbeard went Devil fruit hunting because yes, having a crew of DFs is always advantageous, but also perhaps, if he was told that there are 2 DFs that can guarantee taking over the world, empowering his crew with DFs that he thinks are the strongest in the world would make him more likely to acquire these 2 DFs even if he didn't specifically know which ones they were.
Interesting development, curious to see where things develop. Imu's form is the most surprising, I never expected this. Dude' looking like a hybrid of different races. He's looking like he's from a Sky Island. I guess we'll see how things develop. Shame no summary yet.
I got goosebumps from that introduction—and it seems pretty obvious to me that the reason he doesn't leave Pangea is a curse. If normal Akuma no Mi users faint and become incapacitated in water, this "curse" imposed on Imu makes total sense. After all, it seems that either he is the Devil himself, or he possesses the Devil's own weapon: The Devil Fruit.
ReplyDeleteThe Biblical Parallel
In the Bible, the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge was used by Satan to strip humanity of their relationship with God. It was a "trade":
Adam and Eve accepted the serpent's fruit and, in exchange, lost their immortality and were expelled from Eden, but gained "superior" knowledge. Adam was condemned to toil, Eve to the pains of childbirth, and the serpent was condemned to crawl in the dust forever—destined to have its head crushed by the Promised Descendant who carries the Will of the Heavens.
The Restriction: "The Bends"
This reminds me of Imu: cursed and condemned to live with a physical restriction. Maybe it's related to altitude? Similar to "the bends" (decompression sickness) where if someone surfaces too fast, gas bubbles (O_2, CO_2, N_2) expand in the blood.
He is waiting for the day the Promised Descendant arrives to "turn the world upside down." And notice the detail: in the Bible, the Devil is in a garden. Imu is in the Room of Flowers.
Overall, I thought it was badass—he is officially approved as the final villain. He gives off a Saint Seiya vibe, like the "beautiful" characters such as Pisces Aphrodite.
The Shadow Form: Likely a consequence of the curse. His normal body might be deformed or "broken" when his power isn't active.
The Transformation: This is probably the only fruit with a "Natural Monster Point." Normal classifications won't apply because he definitely has a giant form.
The Elbaf Incident: I’m glad everyone felt his presence. I believe all the Straw Hats will fight him. Elbaf is shaping up to be Sabaody 2.0, and the only thing that will save the crew is a time limit on how long Imu can stay outside Pangea.
If this plays out, we can officially scratch Blackbeard off the list as the final villain!
The world Goverment side doesn't have enough. If Imu has to pull up now, just imagine Other 4 Yonko crews joining in, and dont forget abou the RA and the remnants of the other Goat crews out there. The old Rogers and Rocks Pirates getting there old crewmates bacl together, Imu about to get packed up.
ReplyDeleteI'm soo glad that Luffy and Loki are eating, this mean they could still do something about Imu. Also interesting, Loki seem to be already fully healed and his injuries were really serious. He just ate to his heart content following Luffys "advice" and he's all healed. Hmm, I think Luffy may affect other people with his power even outside of his "free form". Ok, I sidetracked a little so let's get back to topic. I'm honestly surprised that York didn't started production of Motherflame yet. I thought that while Punk Records went with "united Vegapunk" she still got Motherflame. Could it be that they somehow cut her out and she dosen't know how to do this anymore? Also yessss, suffer you traitorous wench. You made your choice, now live with it. Oh, and I'm quite surprised Imu look soo youthful. I mean obviously, he probably stoped aging at pretty young age but I was expecting someone who look more serious but he kinda reminds me of young Mihawk.
