The chapter cover is pure Oda sweetness: Vegapunk modifies Zeus so the thunder cloud rains candies for Chopper. It’s the perfect calm-before-the-storm moment. After all the heavy lore and ancient weapons talk, we get 30 seconds of pure joy watching Chopper’s eyes sparkle. Then the chapter hits you like a truck.

The Opening Double Page That Broke the Internet

Chapter 1180 opens with an absolutely insane double-page close-up of Imu. White dots (or whatever those mysterious marks are) cover his entire body face, arms, legs, even the feet. The panel is drawn so detailed it feels like Imu is staring straight into your soul. No dialogue, no action, just pure presence. You can feel the weight of 800+ chapters of mystery in one spread. This is peak Oda art.Imu casually lands in the Western Village of Elbaph and drops the most casual villain line ever:“Where is the king of this country?”

Brogy and Dorry immediately go “Who the hell are you?!” and “We got no king here in Elbaph!!” Classic giant energy. But Imu doesn’t care. He spots Sommers in Gerd’s hands and asks, “What have you been up to, Sommers?” Then he moves.

Imu’s Brutal Rampage – The Giants Never Stood a Chance

What follows is one of the most one-sided beatdowns in recent One Piece history.

Imu’s spear moves so fast you can’t even see the slash Gerd’s thumbs and forefingers are gone in an instant, Sommers drops like a ragdoll. Hajrudin charges in rage, but Stansen kicks him out of the way and loses a leg for his trouble. The giants who felt unstoppable against the Straw Hats are getting toyed with.Zoro jumps in with his big boy attack “Enou Santōryū: Rengoku Oni Giri”and Imu blocks it with the tip of his tail. Not the spear, not haki, just the tail. The disrespect is unreal. Then comes the chapter’s namesake power: “Omen”. Imu creates a tiny black flame in his palm and flicks it at Zoro’s head. It hits like a bullet zoro drops with blood pouring out. When Imu uses it on Hajrudin, the same flame turns into a massive explosion. We learn the creepy black ring with eyes on Imu’s back is actually a ring of black fire. He conjures another Omen and casually heals Sommers like it’s nothing. Two black bird-like wings burst from Imu’s back. He flies off, turns the flame on his spear into a cannon, and blasts a living black fire (complete with eyes and mouth) at the ice block holding Gunko. Another huge explosion. Then he heals Killingham the same way. Imu is playing support, DPS, and tank all at once.Sanji tries a kick Imu blocks it with the sole of his foot (Imu is Kaido/Big Mom/Kuma-sized, by the way). Imu spins and counters with a black-flame-coated leg kick. Massive explosion. We don’t even know if Sanji is okay. The Straw Hats are getting folded.

The Final Double Page – Loki vs Imu Is Already Legendary

Then Loki shows up.Imu starts talking:“Mu is looking for the culprit behind the murder of my servant Harald… 14 years ago…”

Loki snaps back:“He wasn’t your servant or anything!! The name Harald belongs to my father!! And he was once the ‘King of Elbaph’!!!”

The final double page is straight-up cinematic. Dark clouds, lightning everywhere. Loki is furious, holding the massive Ragnir hammer. He steps right up to Imu and yells:“And I am also the guy you are looking for!!”

Imu replies coldly:“Much hardship would’ve been avoided if thou aren’t here…”
Loki’s comeback is perfect:“Elbaph is the one place I’d be!!! Hammer that into your brain, idiot!!”
End of chapter. No break next week. Oda said “I’m not done cooking yet.”Why Chapter 1180 Is Peak One PieceImu’s power reveal is terrifying. Black flames that heal allies and delete enemies, wings, spear-cannon, insane speed and size mu just became the ultimate final boss candidate.
Loki’s backstory drop ties Elbaph directly to the ancient kingdom and the World Government. Harald was king 14 years ago? That’s huge.

The art is next level. Those two double pages alone are going to be hung on walls.
Pacing is perfect. Zero downtime. Every panel matters.

This chapter single-handedly makes the Elbaph arc feel like the new Whole Cake Island or Wano. The Straw Hats are in serious trouble, the giants are getting humbled, and the real war for the throne of Elbaph just started.

My rating: 9.8/10

Only docking 0.2 because I need to see what happens to Sanji and Zoro next chapter. Other than that? Flawless. One Piece Chapter 1180 “Omen” is the kind of chapter that reminds you why we’ve been reading for 25+ years. Imu is no longer a silhouette on a throne he’s a walking demonic aura, and Loki just volunteered to throw hands with him.

No break next week means we’re eating good again in seven days. Drop your theories in the comments: Is Imu the final villain? What exactly happened 14 years ago with Harald? And how are the Straw Hats getting out of this one?See you in Chapter 1181, pirates.

The Omen has arrived and Elbaph will never be the same.

Oda really decided to make an amalgam of all the final villains into Imu—which is fantastic; for a work called 'One Piece', we should have the 'One Villain'. My hypothesis is that the greed for the original 'devil fruit' led the humans of the Void Century to create the current Devil Fruits—the exact same way V.P. [Vegapunk] used Kizaru's light to create the Pacifistas' lasers—because it doesn't seem to me that he 'can' use the power of all fruits, but rather, that the power of all fruits might have been derived from him.

It seemed a lot like a mix of Kuma and Big Mom—an attack that inflicts damage instantaneously, and is also used to resurrect others—not to mention the obvious fire manipulation that Imu is doing here. Now it makes perfect sense why he just swallowed Sabo ['s attack]. Anyway, maybe each devil fruit carries a little bit of this original 'power' that Imu has. But as V.P. pointed out, the Devil Fruits emerged influenced by 'People's Dreams', and maybe those dreams are precisely the dreams of the 'D.'—anxious for the consequences of all this

I dont think he have needs for pluton...but he might care nobody could use it against him,, so as long Pluton keep himself hidden for the world..and the Giants who can control such thing locked in the freezer, he simply doesn't care,,, if we go by logic i think Killing the giants not just Froze them it would be wiser, but by plot reasons he is not goin to do that,, in the same way he simply didn't send the entire CP9 or a freaking admiral to literally rip Luffy Apart,, at the first bounty of an asswipe capable of stretching limbs,, knowing the gomu gomu it was in fact the Nika Fruit,, and they just bet he will never be capable to wake the thing up... same for pluton he simply wont care until he realized someone unfroze the giants and somehow manage to control them or join them into the gang in the same way Xebec's wanted to do..but even then he,,got the prerrogative in HOW T FUCK are you goin to make them OBEY YOU....of course , with the HARALD ALLIANCE and the frozen giant obeying HIM,, and you being friend of Harald...it was a possibility L

SO-- CONSIDERING the Elbaph Arc , results favorable for Straw Hats--and Loki survives and Become King--- there ya go,,, if they somehow unfroze the giants,, and get pluton,,, since Loki is the new King and they l probably will only obey the Elbaph king,,,there ya go, you can add them to the Barto giant alliance, that respond to Luffy..

if you ask me,,, in the same way as dad wanted,, B.B it is goin to be the one capable to Pull it off... he knows where Pluton is,,, (thanks to Caribou) but the ship cannot be controlled without finding the Giants and make them obey you somehow so they can pilot the stupid thing for you.... i m Not sure BB knows where the Giants are..

So the spoilers doesn't give enough context to say that Zoro or Sanji is out for sure. It just says bloodied face and explosion after getting kicked. Those two have gone through much worse so they will probably be back to flank Imu is what I think will happen. Zoro and Sanji were both basically fresh and undamaged prior to this so I think their hp pool still got some volume to it. Mana pool also full lol.

Loki vs Imu I wonder what will happen? I have a feeling that somehow Loki might be able to figure out that the being in front of him is what caused Harald to go berserk all those years ago. Looks like he will have to 1v1 Imu while Luffy grows young again. There doesn't seem to be any vending machines nearby so he better eat that damn frozen shit asap.

I honestly don't think Loki would join Blackbeard just because he is Xebecs son. Loki is clever guy, I'm quite sure he would notice that Blackbeard despit having similar goal is nothing like his father. Xebec was at least respectful enough to not force himself on Harald and just keept asking if he changed his mind. I can bet that Blackbeard on other hand would try to steal from Loki if he would refuse him. You know, because he think that as long as he can block his opponents df power he can do whatever the hell he want and that he's invincible on top of that. And if he would try force Loki to do anything then it would be complete deal breaker, espesially if he would start to view Blackbeard as danger to Elbaf. Because Loki is menace but this arc shows us clearly that he still love his country and is ready to do anything to protect it.

Btw, it may be bit too early for that but I think Luffy is kinda winning against Blackbeard. Sure, Blackbeard have 2 dfs and powerful crew (at least main members, rest of them are just "meat canonballs" he picked up) but Luffy already have A LOT of loyal allies due to fact that he helps everywhere even if it isn't very "piraty" thing to do. Same thing goes for Elbaf. Since Lilith plan to make new base there to fix Kuma and prepare for future war against Imu and also flood that will probably happen it's highly possible that Elbaf will be saved in the end and for whatever reason Imu won't have any way to reach it anymore. And in however way it will happen will completly seal the deal and whole Elbaf, including Loki will be Luffys ally. So yeah, quoting certain great pirat: Blackbeard isn't person Roger was waiting for.

Imu internally bleeding takes the shit out of Zoro & Sanji... yeah, i like it. Would love it even more if he kills both of them, and are replaced by Franky and Jimbe. Can't help but dream. Also great to see Franky not getting damage <3

Omen fire is a nice touch, but i would like the Grimoire back. That would feel much more devilish than any other thing.

Imu is not killing off the Zoro and Sanji’s groups but only beating them quickly and moving on. It seems that he is in a hurry and have a time limitation on Elbaf - we already saw the blood spit when he is arrived in the castle.

So is he being hurt by the island like the sunlight or the Elbaf energy radiations? Or does he actually need to remain in the Chamber of flowers to sustain himself with the Marigeoise National Treasure? The fact that there are butterflies in such a chamber could hint that there is a special nectar being supplied to Marigeoise by the Eve Tree.

It looks like this "Omen" doesn't only bring them back.. it also buff the Gods knights.. so Killingham is probably also Buffed".. they might look and behave differently from before.. Sommer's might not be anymore that almost Funny/disgusting Gods knight from Before.. if not something more serious ..something worthy to be in such position, serious/cruel/ Not lazy/ sadistic/ robot like behavior.. probably.

God knights only get implanted with an evil personality when they reach the second stage of the covenant. I can't buy that all god knights would be like harald. Some maybe of course but the most likely scenario is that most god knights come from tenryubito circles and fully buy into the religion at play one they ascend. Or else.

Jennie Kim said...

I also don't like it but from Gunkos behavior caused by Brooks appearance we can assume that Holy Knights dosen't have to be natural born demons in human form. They ALL could be just good hearted fools who thought that if they join Gods Knights it will be beneficial for whatever kingdom they came from exactly like Harald. BUT they weren't as "lucky" as Harald and there was noone who could stop them before it was too late. Such scenario wouldn't surprise me but I'm still quite sure Sommers and Killingham are born CDs not that they gained that title after becoming Imus subordinates. I know, it's hard to tell after this whole Gunko/princess Shuri thing but Sommers and Killingham seem genuine in their evil ways. Also it's not like everyone who try to make deal with WG (most specificly Imu) do that out of good reasons. Some just want power, prestige and easy life without any consequences just like it's in Yorks case.

And as for how Oda will resolve current situation well: I think things will be bad until somehow it won't. It's always like that. Since Imu seem to be final boss just coming down for "guest appearances" he will have to go away somehow. Well, with little help from our heroes that is. That won't be perfect win like it was in other cases but deffinetly enough to make Imu and WG realise that their time for stoping "new era" where they won't be ruling the world from coming have already passed and they will have to get ready to try and fight back.

Ok, things are escalating rather quickly. I really hope next chapter won't be Lokis downfall because his speech was epic. Also is Luffy with him or Loki left him so he could rest bit more? Though if Gunko really got defrosted and is still bad Luffy may not have much time to rest. However if she isn't under Imus influence then she may be of some use.

God damn, chapter looks epic. From the spoiler there's a vibe of... "Git gud you conqueror scrubs" directed at zoro and sanji. I feel like sanji got specially humbled here. No conqueror haki and outflamed... Though I'd expect his unique physiology to help him recover quickly.

Definitely looks like loki is in trouble. I feel like his nidhogg form would definitely not be useful here, he is simply too big a target and imu is too powerful, but if he has a hybrid form this would be the moment to use it. Luffy should be back in action soon as well.

Thinking about it, if sommers and killingham have recovered and have been buffed then things are suddenly pretty dire if zoro and sanji were taken out.

Ariel Summer said...

Okay so Imu is kicking ass and taking names. We'll see how it goes against Loki but I don't expect overwhelming power where Loki can't do anything. What he did to Zoro and Sanji is not too different to how BM took out Queen super easily since we know there is big gap between even a Yonko and the commanders.

I expect Imu to still be able to win in a head to head against Loki without much issue. But I don't think Imu will be that far above peak WB/Roger level in terms of combat & haki. Just will have a broken DF on top of that but I think Loki and Luffy are the other counters to balance that. Very interested in seeing how Nika toon force does against Imu demon force.

WIll probably be a big defeat for Loki and Luffy that will make them get stronger after. Imu will end up having to leave for other reasons like maybe a time limit for being outside of Marijeose or someone destroying the summoning circle causing it to be undone.
