One Piece Manga 1163 Review

Read One Piece Manga Free Chapter 1163 On MangaRoyale, Catch the latest manga releases chapter with high-quality images. Online read NOW! “Promise.” Short word, heavy weight. In a story built on inherited wills, D. lineage, and ancient secrets, promises carry epic meaning. The title signals a thematic turn: this isn’t just about battle for power, it’s about commitments, betrayals, and legacies being honoured (or broken). Early spoilers suggest the opening scene even features the dialogue: “a promise must be fulfilled.”

The Promise That Drives This Chapter

Looking at the chapters: Imu calls RocksDavy Jones” (which Rocks denies) and then reminds him of a promise. Rocks counters that this world is not yours. So we’re dealing with a promise on maybe multiple levels: personal (Rocks’s promise?), historical (the world government’s promise to control?), and symbolic (the promise of freedom vs tyranny). This adds a texture to the battle beyond blows and devil fruits.

Major Plot Beats in Chapter 1163

Imu’s Confrontation with Rocks D. Xebec

The chapter opens with the confrontation: Imu accuses Rocks of being “Davy Jones,” but Rocks denies the label. Imu presses the promise. Rocks replies that the world isn’t Imu’s. Big. Right away we’re in the heart of the mythology.  The narrative quickly escalates: Imu attacks indiscriminately in God Valley, Rocks and Marines & Pirates all respond.

The Legendary Alliance: Roger, Garp & the Pirates

One of the most jaw-dropping elements from the leaks: Roger and Garp team up with (or against?) Rocks to face Imu. The alignment is unusual and underscores how dire things are. According to fans: “Garp and Roger form an unlikely alliance to fight Imu.” The fact that these historically separate forces come together signals a major pivot in the world of One Piece. If the Marines, the Pirate King and Rocks guy are all in one arena, that’s big.

Rocks Pirates vs Roger Pirates: Internal Conflict

But it’s not just the big fight. The leaks reveal internal conflict within the Rocks Pirates: clashes like John vs Ganzui (members of Roger vs Rocks). This adds a layer of chaos: the side that was supposed to be unified is fracturing, which plays into bigger themes of trust, destiny and ambition.

The Epic Attack and the Double-Page Spread

Fan favourite moment: the “epic double-page spread” where Rocks, Kaido, Whitebeard, Big Mom, Roger, Garp all attack Imu simultaneously.  Visually and narratively, this is a masterpiece moment – like Oda pulling out all the stops to show “this is the war that built the world.”

Imu’s Counterstrike: Domi Reversi and Its Implications

Here’s the bombshell: Even after taking all that, Imu still stands. Then Imu uses the technique “Domi Reversi” on Rocks, commanding him to execute his family, transforming him gradually into a demon. This flips the script: the big hero antagonists are defeated (or twisted) not by sheer power but by manipulation and mind-war. The world of One Piece just got scarier.

Character Moments That Hit Hard

Rocks D. Xebec’s Stand and Revelation

Rocks refuses the “Davy Jones” label and insists on his promise. But by chapter’s end he’s under Imu’s control. That trajectory is tragic and pivotal. We see his strength, his convictions, and then him being bent to a darker will. The man behind the myth cracks big time.

Gol D. Roger & Monkey D. Garp: An Unlikely Team-Up

Roger and Garp have always had their indirect dance around each other (Marine vs Pirate King). But here? They combine. This moment suggests the lines drawn in One Piece’s world are shifting. The “good vs evil” format is getting more ambiguous and that makes things thrilling.

The World Government’s Dark Hand: Imu’s True Power

Imu has been a shadow, a whisper. Chapter 1163 shows just how deep that shadow runs. The revelation of Domi Reversi, the immunity to multiple legendary attacks all raise the stakes. Imu isn’t just the final boss of a flashback. Imu may be the core of the whole story’s challenge.

World-Building & Canon Impacts

Why God Valley Matters for the Present Timeline

This flashback arc has always felt like a key puzzle piece. Why did God Valley vanish from records? How did Rocks fall? What role did the World Government play? Chapter 1163 answers parts of that. By showcasing the direct clash between world-building pillars, the present timeline of One Piece gets backed up with real stakes and history.

What the “Promise” Means for the D. Lineage and the Void Century

By mentioning “promise,” and using legendary characters like Rocks and Roger in the same scene, we’re stepping into the heart of the “Will of D.”, the Void Century mysteries and the fight against the world’s hidden tyrannies. This chapter doesn’t just entertain it primes the stage for future reveals (and we know they’re coming).

Themes and Symbolism

Promises, Betrayal and Ruin

Promises in One Piece aren’t light. They’re loaded with legacy. Here, we have a promise made, a promise broken, a force demanding it be fulfilled and characters paying the price. The betrayal mixed into that adds emotional weight. It’s not just action. It’s about ideals.

Power, Legacy, and the Weight of History

The spectacle is huge but beneath the spectacle is the idea that history shapes the present, legacies haunt the future, and power isn’t just about strength; it’s about who writes the story. Imu wants to rewrite history. Rocks wants to defy it. Roger and Garp… they’re caught between.

an Reactions and Theories

Community Takeaways on Reddit/Forums

Fans are buzzing. One post:

“Being annihilated like that is truly devastating.. It explains how both Garp and Roger were necessary to defeat him…”
The sheer mixture of awe and fear is evident: awe at the art and scope; fear at how dark the story is turning.
Another reaction pointed out the massive double-page spread with all the legends attacking Imu at once.

Speculations on What Comes Next

  • How will Rocks’ transformation affect the broader story?

  • Can Domi Reversi be undone and if so, by whom?

  • What does Roger & Garp’s victory (or failure) mean for the future timeline?

  • Is this the end of God Valley flashback, or just the midpoint? Many think the arc is nearing its climax.

Final Thoughts: Why Chapter 1163 Might Be a Turning Point

Chapter 1163 is not just another chapter. It’s a foundation-shaking one. It ties together decades-old mysteries, gives us legendary characters in one place, heightens the stakes of the entire world, and introduces a technique and a moment that will echo far into the story yet to come. If you’re following One Piece only loosely, this chapter is your “okay, this is the moment everything changed” kind of chapter.

Conclusion

If you’ve made it this far nice work. One Piece Chapter 1163 shows that when the stakes are highest, the story doesn’t just deliver rare fights, it delivers rare revelations. Imu’s power, Rocks’ fall, the merging of legends, the clash of ideals all of this makes this chapter one to bookmark.

Whether you’re reading for the thrill, for the lore, or just to see what wild idea creator Eiichiro Oda has next, this chapter raises the bar. Can’t wait to see what happens next, and neither can the fandom.

Okay, like I said last time. When I see something like this, it makes me think memory shenanigans are afoot, as miserable as that is. OR extreme compulsion/poisoned deal. But with how manchildish Imu seems to be, I think that if there were power shenanigans getting involved, I think it would be memory-based.

Another thought I recently had has to do with the previous chapter. What if the person whom Sengoku said "disappeared" is the same person who "disappeared" from the Who's Who story? It's a bit of a wild thought, but I'd be down for it if there's this person in the background silently spreading the gospel of joyboy while adding suspiscion to the CD. If this person is also the one holding the last poneglyph, then even better.

Wow. I'm quite shocked by this turn of events as is everybody. So anyone with evil or bad intentions will be domi reversied. It all makes sense as to why Nika is the only threat to him and why Joyboy gave Imu ptsd.
I did think Big Mom would join the fray but Garp got me by surprise. He just blatantly attacked Saturn and Imu without skipping a beat.
Maybe his D genes felt the evil haki and had to attack but I think he just recognizes the danger Imu poses.

But mark my words, Imu will make him pay. First by fighting Rocks and testing him, then he'll probably threaten to domi reversi him and make him kill his own family if he doesn't obey orders and get in line. Hence why he hid Luffy with Dadan. Garp never rebels because just as Rocks knew when he went to the flower room, he knows he can't do shit and is at risk of being turned against those he loves anytime.

That explains why he probably created sword in secret with the help of Sengoku and trained Marines to be powerful and just. Koby is the prime example of that and why he wanted Ace and Luffy to join as well.

I wonder if Rocks knew about Imu's abilities, maybe from Davy Clan lore, and the two abilities he wants are the ones that could potentially counter it?
Nika being able to dispel Domi Reversi seems like a given considering that I doubt Oda is about to kill off the entirety of the Giant Warrior Pirates.

I guess we get the gist of things now. That transformation of Harald is forced and he's being killed as a mercy. There's likely some God Knights in the mix in the room when he was killed which required Loki and the Elder to team up. The elder has a sword jammed into his head which could affect his memory. Case closed.

Reading more, there are definitely some strange occurrences going on.
Imu seeing Rocks as Davy Jones. That could be explained with either a devil fruit being identified, or Rocks' Haki being extremely reminiscent of Davy Jones.

Dragon suddenly holding a piece of wood, when previously, we saw him clutching the kid upon falling. This is by far the most agressive intervention we've seen. Was there an Ope Ope no Mi user watching all of this? Only shambles or ninjutsu could have done a full substitute. There cannot be a natural way of Dragon going from holding Shanks to holding a suspiciously similar piece of wood.

Roger had a person with demon style wings/ or maybe shadowed out angel wings in the crew? What a weird detail right now.

Imu's power profile includes far sight. Is it Haki or is it DF-based? Being able to identify them too, is unreasonable.

All the Conqueror Haki didn't really seem to damage Saturn's regen enough. Maybe it wasnt strong enough at this stage.

Anyway, looks like we really are going into a sequence where Garp and Roger at least are going to try to stop converted Rocks.

This OPC might be giving a hint if its the correct translation. At the very beggining, one of Roger's injured crewmates describes the pain from his wound as "compelling."
That sounds like the beginning of something that could lead to reversi'd.
I personally am going to assume that there are actually many paths to being suceptible to Reversi. Maybe all of them include blood to varying degrees, but for now, that injured crew member gave a compelling hint to how someone unrelated may become a valid target for Reversi.

How did Dragon end up with a wood/log in his arms? Shanks didn't seem to have just crawled away, it seems he literally switched places with it.

Does Imu rewrite the lineage factor like a Devil Fruit does? He had to make contact once and he can take over. He basically just inserts himself in them. And if so, he could manipulate any living being (or even a non livining item, since even inanimate objects can "eat" DFs).

He also specifically controlled those black lines on Saturns body, similar to what Luffy had in his G4 form, which reminds one of Devil Fruit pattern.

Damn, if so, Sabo might be "infected"! And Imu just waits for the perfect opportunity to deal damage to the RA, especially when the RA thinks they're making progress.

Not a fan of seemingly unlimited regen abilities but that remains to be seen I guess. What bothers me more is the lack of any "hurt" noises. All the attacks with C.Haki and not acknowledgment?

This is why the chapter is better than spoilers. Imu needed to touch rocks to change him which is new. Their attacks did essentially work or rather weakened imu..

lastly.. that joint attack panel solidified it for me. It makes me sad that this is the past and big mom and Kaido went down. I love how Oda is lowkey giving us a taste of who they are before the world govt essentially corrupted them. Kaido, big mom and WB are likely going to get packed up by rocks if it’s ROGER and Garp to take them down.

Now!!!
Garp isn’t out the woods just yet because if Garp seen all of this happened and still decided to work for the world govt… I’m hoping it’s for a reason.. I truly do.

Sadly the part with Shiki in this chapter isn't translated yet. He appears after Ganzui takes out Captain John. But Ganzui is aiming at Shiki as well from behind. Although Shiki notices and seems to be shocked and very angry at the same time. I'm not sure yet if truly belongs to the disloyal members of Rocks crew. That little bomb throw at Whitebeard, Kaido and Silver Axe could literally be considered a joke for these people. Whitebeard and Kaido didn't even have a scratch, only Silver Axe, but the damage was minimal.

I think Shiki will still get involved. He was in the same league as Roger and Whitebeard and one of the three big pirates after Rocks was gone. Linlin for example wasn't. And his opsession with Roger and Ancient Weapons might come from his experience here on God Valley.

Shiki's fruit is also absolutely insane. One of the rare fruits that can use ocean water as a weapon. I hope we will see him use his fruit properly. I'd also like to see a proper fight scene for Silver Axe and if he really might have Urouge's fruit.

Garp actually attacked Saturn even though the marines actually tried to stop him. This seems to make his reasoning for staying behind more apparent. He's trying to rebuild the Navy as one that's truly standing for Justice. Wanting Ace, Luffy and Dragon to become Admirals is in order for them to carry on his philosophy and attack evil whether it's from a Gorosei heading the World government or not.
Still, clowns will find a way to accuse Garp, but awesome chapter.

Feels like Davy Jone's promise is pretty much the Will of D.

I wonder if whomever was involved of Harald's death was also witness to God Valley. Perhaps, Shiki is involved here. The man with the burning scar might be Shiki. Can't see why the ability to create whirlpools wouldn't be possible with Shiki's power. Good chapter.
