Get ready for another generous helping of dark fantasy action. Production company Point Set announced on Monday that the hit television anime adaptation of Berserk of Gluttony (Bōshoku no Berserk: Ore Dake Level to Iu Gainen wo Toppa Suru) is officially returning for a second season.
To celebrate the announcement, a brand-new key visual was released, giving fans a fresh look at our protagonist, Fate Graphite, alongside the noble holy knight, Roxy.
The Story So Far
For those who need to catch up before Season 2, the series originally penned by Ichika Isshiki with illustrations by fame follows a brutal yet captivating premise. Seven Seas Entertainment, publisher of the English light novel and manga adaptations, describes Fate's journey:
"Fate Graphite is one of the forsaken. Cursed with the skill “Gluttony,” he is ever starving, never sated… until the day he kills a dying thief and devours the man's strength and his soul. The true hunger of Fate's Gluttony has awakened, and if he can learn to control his power, he will at last be the master of his own destiny."
The first season, which debuted in October 2023, tracked Fate's rise from a bullied, starving gatekeeper to a formidable warrior hiding in the shadows. Fans can currently stream the entire first season, including its English dub, on Crunchyroll.
Returning Cast & Creative Team
The first season was brought to life by animation studio ACGT, directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa (High School DxD), with series composition by Mariko Kunisawa (Ascendance of a Bookworm) and character designs by Takafumi Furusawa.
While the full staff list for Season 2 is yet to be confirmed, fans can expect the stellar primary voice cast to return to their roles:
Ryota Ohsaka as Fate Graphite
Tomokazu Seki as the black sword, Greed
Hisako Tōjō as Roxy
Misato Matsuoka as Myne
Hitomi Sekine as Eris
🗡️ Bonus Trivia: Did You Know?
A "Mortal Sin" Motif: The power scaling in the series is heavily based on the Seven Deadly Sins. Fate’s skill is "Gluttony," his weapon is "Greed," and characters like Myne possess the "Wrath" skill. These "Mortal Sin" skills break the standard rules of the world's leveling system, making their users incredibly overpowered but constantly burdened by a severe curse (like Fate's endless hunger).
A Hilarious Meta-Casting: The voice actor for the snarky black sword Greed is Tomokazu Seki. Seki is incredibly famous in the anime community for voicing Gilgamesh in the massive Fate franchise a character who is literally the embodiment of arrogance, greed, and hoarding treasure. To add another layer to the joke, Seki (who voices Greed) spends the entire Berserk of Gluttony anime talking to a main character named... Fate.
Humble Beginnings: Like many massive anime hits today (such as Re:Zero or Mushoku Tensei), Berserk of Gluttony didn't start on a publisher's desk. Ichika Isshiki first launched the story on the user-generated web novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō ("Let's Become a Novelist") before it was picked up for official publication by Micro Magazine in November 2017, which ultimately paved the way for Daisuke Takino's manga adaptation in 2018.
