Incredible Hunter x Hunter Chapter 412 as usual and that whole page with Beyond wanting to make the Kakin royalty and people equal in a court of law is disturbing on a whole new level that I can't even explain. Togashi, I'm pretty sure that sneaky old man is hiding another layer that would absolutely blow this arc up to a whole new level with what Beyond is trying to do and is hiding this whole thing behind Beyond's kind of goofy personality. It honestly reminds me so much of Isaac Netero.
The part that i still don't get is that how wasn't Kurapika's Dowsing Chain able to detect Oito's cover up? If I remember correctly, when Kurapika spoke to Mezaistom about this particular chain he said that there might be a way to evade it if the person speaking wasn't aware that they were actually lying. Like if a person was being manipulated and that the lie wasn't hidden but erased.
In this case, did Oito work her way around by technically differentiating between the two "Wobles" so that no matter which one she brought up in the conversation won't be considered a lie and at the same time won't sound unnatural to others? Or am I missing something?
I'm coming up with an insane crack theory that this is a master gambit by Kurapika. This is almost certainly wrong, but it's roughly this:
-
He fakes the realization of Oito's decepton in front of Babymania and Zhang Lei's guards, i.e all what we see here is a script, down to Shimanu correcting Kurapika;
-
He swaps real Woble with another baby from somewhere else or a conjured baby (this is super weak lol), and stashes real Woble elsewhere. Alternatively, and this is super messed up, he conjures a false... proof of manhood for them to examine.
-
He has the guards examine the male baby to confirm his story, then announces this to the nen class. Meanwhile real Woble is just on the ship on a different floor or locked up somewhere. In his internal monologue he says "the concern is that Beyond's cursed children will kill the baby that is somewhere else. This doesn't really make sense since, due to distance, Beyond's cursed children probably have to be in a certain range to kill their prince.
