Could we be seeing K-pop legend and actor Jung Ji-hoon better known as Rain stepping into the world of hunters and monsters?
Following rumors that the star would be joining the highly anticipated Netflix adaptation of Solo Leveling right after his stint in Bloodhounds Season 2, his agency has stepped in to set the record straight. On the 9th, Rain Company spoke directly with Maeil Business Newspaper’s Star Today, clarifying that while Solo Leveling is indeed one of the projects he is currently reviewing, absolutely "nothing has been confirmed" at this stage.
This official statement comes hot on the heels of an exclusive report from another media outlet earlier in the day, which prematurely announced his casting as a done deal.
If you aren't already familiar with the massive KakaoPage web novel phenomenon, Solo Leveling tells the gripping story of Sung Jin-woo. Known infamously as the "World's Weakest" E-rank hunter, Jin-woo’s job is to protect the human realm from terrifying monsters that emerge from mysterious dimensional gates. After surviving a brutal, near-death double dungeon encounter, he awakens with a unique system that allows him to literally "level up" setting him on a path to becoming the strongest hunter in existence.
The live-action series is already generating massive hype, especially with its star-studded cast taking shape. Breakout star Byeon Woo-seok is officially locked in for the lead role of Sung Jin-woo, while powerhouse actress Han So-hee is currently expected to play the fiercely talented hunter, Cha Hae-in.
Fans will just have to wait and see if Rain decides to officially join this blockbuster roster!
