Michael Kaiser

Kaiser is a prodigy forward from Germany who arrives at Blue Lock in order to participate in the Neo Egoist League as a member of Bastard München. Kaiser is regarded as a genius and is recognized as a member of the New Generation World 11 and is the main striker and ace for Bastard München during the Neo Egoist League.

Abilities

Clinical Finisher: Clinical finishers are forwards that specialize in their accurate shooting ability. They are "clinical" in that they need few opportunities to score a goal being able to strike and place the ball exactly where it will beat the goalkeeper. They can be identified by their high goal to shots ratio. Clinical strikers usually play as centre forwards though other attacking players can often be said to be clinical finishers.

With an omnipotent vision, high football IQ, the fastest kick speed in the world and a powerful shot to match, Kaiser is the ace scorer for Bastard München. Kaiser is easily able to get into an ideal scoring position, receive any kind of pass, and create space for himself when pressured by the opposition to score effortless and illogical goals.

Skills

Professional Football Technique: Kaiser is regarded as a genius player in the professional world of football. He plays football for one of the best teams in the world as the main striker. His skills are highly respected by teammates, opposing teams, club owners, investors, and even the best striker in the world. His skill and technique is so high level that his team's style of play and philosophy revolve around him and his style of play.

Meta Vision: A term used to describe a player's evolved vision that gives them an omnipotent perspective of the field. Using his eyes to constantly take in information from his central and peripheral vision, Kaiser constantly collects data on every player, every play they make, and their positions on the field; mixed with his high football IQ, Kaiser is able to interpret that data and use it to heighten every move he makes to unpredictable levels and find opportunities before others can. This ability escapes the logic of even the most highly advanced football players. Mixed with his other abilities, Kaiser is able to dominate the field creating illogical opportunities born from his vision.

Off the Ball Movements: A term used to describe the moments where players are not in possession of the ball. Kaiser uses these moments to position himself where he can always receive a pass, whether in his opponents’ or teammates' blind spots. When marked by a defender, Kaiser always runs towards the course most troublesome to his opposition and then immediately steps in the opposite direction of their center of gravity to bypass them finding an open position for himself.

Kaiser Impact: Kaiser performs a high level volley that is so fast that it is hard to even see him kick the ball or see the ball go into the goal. Mixed with his Metavision, Kaiser is able to fearlessly score near impossible shots with extreme accuracy. His shot has the speed and power to pass by the heads of five defenders in front of the goal and the goalie with pinpoint accuracy into the goal.

Sae Itoshi

Sae is a prodigy football player who is regarded as the best player in Japan and is the older brother of Rin Itoshi. Sae is also a member of the New Generation World 11 and is a member of the Real Madrid Youth team, regarded as one of the best youth players in the world.

His main goal before the start of the series was to become the best striker in the world and in turn the best player in the world but after leaving Japan and experiencing the professional league in Spain he changed his dream to becoming the best midfielder in the world.

At the start of the series, he is in Japan only to renew his passport but after happening to hear about the Blue Lock he decides to stay. He later joins the Japan U-20 to face off against the Blue Lock Eleven in the Japan U-20 match. After the Japan U-20 match concluded his current status and whereabouts are unknown.

Abilities

Archetype

Playmaker: A player who controls the flow of the team's offensive play, and is often involved in passing moves which lead to goals, through their vision, technique, ball control, creativity, and passing ability.

Sae has been described as having a cold and calculating play style. He creates constant ideal plays for his team using his passing and dribbling, essentially controlling the offense and fills in any gaps the defense may have by going to the most critical point using his vision. With every play he makes, Sae aims to crush his opponent quickly and efficiently, destroying them "beautifully".

Skills

Professional Football Technique: Sae is regarded as a genius player in the professional world of football. He plays football in Europe and is considered to be on the level of a pro but has not gone fully pro only because of the age requirements in Spain, at the start of the series. He is regarded as the best player in Japan and can easily fill a stadium with his name alone, due to his immense reputation. Even high level players like Rin Itoshi and Ryusei Shidou are a league below him.

Perfect Kick Technique: Sae has the ability to control the intensity, angle, speed, and accuracy of his kicks to an extreme level at any given point in time. Not only is he able to consistently perform complex passes using his superior footwork and technique but added with his level of skill he is able to perfectly manipulate the ball to the point his passes are easy to receive but hard to intercept or block.
  • Long Driven Pass: A long pass, usually 40-50 meters long, that gives the ball enough height and power to avoid interception.
  • Lob Pass: Also known as a Chip, is a shot in which the ball is kicked from underneath with accuracy but with less than maximum force, to launch it high into the air in order to pass it over the heads of opponents.
  • Line Drive Shot: Sae is able to score with a powerful drive shot, taken from the byline and aimed at the other side of the goal. This is a shot that defies the expectations of anyone in the box anticipating a pass and can catch the goalkeeper off guard.
  • Trivela (Pass): A technique wherein which one puts spin on the ball using the outside of their foot. Sae is able to make a pinpoint pass using the outside of his left foot, in an instantaneous motion with his reflex. Sae is also able to use this pass with his weaker right foot, to still make a pinpoint pass.
  • Ultra-Fast Pass: From a set piece, Sae is able to make an incredibly fast pass that borders on being a shot. By using his reflex, he takes all conditions into account, in order to pass to a place that the opponent cannot reach, as if threading a needle.

Counter Dribbling: Sae's dribbling is "passive", in comparison with the more proactive dribbling of Bachira and Yukimiya. Rather than actively moving past defenders, Sae will observe the defender's rhythm and motions, before flowing past them in a counter. Sae's dribbling is the best shown so far, being able to effortlessly blow past the likes of Isagi and Bachira within one fluid movement. He is also shown to be able to overcome his brother Rin with relative ease, nutmegging him in each of their engagements. Rin noted that the tempo of each of his touches when he dribbles is incredibly fast, bolstered by his experience in Europe. Sae will often prioritize passing to progress the ball up the field, but when he wishes to play seriously, he changes his style to breaking through by himself with his dribbling, drastically increasing his options. When Sae gets serious, his dribbling is good enough to overcome the Blue Lock Eleven's entire formation without any assistance.

  • Hyperspeed Scissors: Sae performs a scissor feint at incredible speed, making it hard to follow.
  • Double Touch: Sae knocks the ball from one foot to the other, before using the second foot to knock the ball past his opponent and break past. He performed this move at an incredibly fast tempo, leaving Rin little time to react.
  • Marseille Turn: Sae stops the ball with the outside of his foot, shielding the ball from his opponent, before performing a roulette to turn past them.
  • Nutmeg: Sae dribbles the ball through the legs of a defender effectively getting past their defense with little effort.
  • Cross Elastico Nutmeg: Sae performs an elastico, but by crossing the ball behind his dominant leg, before knocking it between his opponent's legs using his non-dominant foot. He first performed this move on his brother Rin when he returned from Spain, but has also performed this move on Rin during the Japan National Representative Match.
  • Elastico Nutmeg: Sae performs a regular elastico to nutmeg a defender and go past them. He did this to Isagi when breaking through the midfield, during the Japan National Representative Match.
  • Rabona Nutmeg: A technique where a player kicks the ball, with their kicking leg crossed behind their standing leg. Sae can use this technique to play the ball between an opponent's legs, before passing them, as he demonstrated against Yukimiya.
  • Shoulder Block: By using his shoulder to block off his opponent, Sae reverses his centre of gravity to avoid their tackle.

Reflex: With his incredible reflexes, Sae is able to take into account all the conditions of the field and make decisive plays to get the ball down the field and in the hands of the forwards in the best way possible. Sae will determine who has the most "heat" towards the goal and play the ball to them, meaning he has no bias towards particular strikers. This incredible reflex makes Sae hard to read and stop, as he makes split-second judgements to constantly move the ball and change positions. It is this reflex which enables Sae to operate on the same wavelength as Shidou and exploit his abilities to their full potential.

Metavision: With his pristine and trained vision, Sae is able to constantly collect data on every player, every play they make, and their positions on the field and after analyzing that data is able to react to their movements instantly and without even being noticed arriving at the most critical point of their plays effectively shutting their attack down or bypassing their defense with ease.

Oliver Aiku

He was formerly the captain and a centerback of the Japan U-20 team; he currently plays as a regular on Ubers during the Neo Egoist League.

Abilities

Archetype

  • Libero: The libero (Italian for "free") or sweeper is a more versatile type of defender that sweeps up the ball if the opponent manages to break the defensive line. Their position is rather more fluid than other defenders who mark their designated opponents. Sweepers are usually faster than that of the other players on the team, and are built slightly smaller than the others. The sweeper's ability to read the game is even more vital than for a centre-back; they also are usually confident on the ball and possess good passing and vision, as they are often responsible for starting plays from the back-line.

The key to the Japan U-20's defense is Aiku being more versatile than the other defenders and being able to sweep up the ball or shut down the opposing offense altogether with his iron clad defense.

Skills

Professional Football Technique: Aiku is considered to be one of Japan's brightest talents, being the captain of the U-20, as well as already having an offer to play for an unspecified Italian professional club, in the Serie A. A testament to his professional technique is the fact that he went from being a respected centre-forward, to a talented defender almost seamlessly. The entire U-20 team is built with him at its centre, being referred to as the 'Diamond Generation'.

Spatial Awareness: Aiku has an incredibly large field of view, being able to take into account the conditions of every player in front of him. Isagi noted that Aiku was not marking him specifically, yet was able to intercept a pass to him, because he was able to adjudge Isagi's speed, as well as the source of the pass and the positions of every player. This wide field of view enables him to detect any threats to the U-20 goal and react instantly predicting any movements or surprise plays.

Dominant Physicality: Aiku also has an incredible physique which enables him to perform high level plays without issue. His strength was first demonstrated when he physically subdued Ryusei, a notoriously powerful player, without any issue. His strength is also demonstrated in his jumping ability, being able to reach great heights to intercept the ball. In addition to this, Aiku moves across the pitch with incredible speed, being able to sweep up any loose balls and cover defensive holes left by his team, as well as retreat to the center when needed.

Reflex: On top of his high spatial awareness, Aiku also has the reflex to immediately determine where the greatest threat to the goal is and the physical ability to go there without hesitation. It is the combination of this reflex and spatial awareness that makes Aiku such an effective defender, as he not only sees all positions of every player at once, but he also moves immediately (often ahead of the strikers) to intercept the ball.

  • Total Defense: By combining all three of these weapons, Aiku is able to predict, react to and intercept any ball played into the defensive third, acting as a critical safeguard in the U-20's defensive line up. It is this ability which makes Aiku the cornerstone of the U-20's 'Diamond Generation'.

Flow State: Flow, as described by Ego, is the state of "total immersion" or "being in the zone". It is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

Aiku managed to enter the Flow state during the match against Blue Lock, in response to Baro and Yukimiya's attack. Whereas normally he reacts to plays as he sees them happening, whilst in flow he can see and even feel the critical points in his team's defense, enabling him to move ahead of the game and cover those weak areas. This state also improves Aiku's one-on-one defending, being able to completely shutdown a player's offense by reading their every possibility and shutting down all their options like he did to Rin but when faced with skill that is above his understanding his defense falls flat without help.

Ryusei Shido

Shido unlike most forwards has no concrete dream of becoming the world's best striker but rather seeks to enjoy life to the fullest by playing football.

Out of the original 300 forwards chosen to be apart of the Blue Lock Project, Ryusei is an ideal candidate for the type of striker Ego strives to create and after the Japan U-20 match, Shido is ranked as one of the top players in Blue Lock. Shido currently plays as a regular on PXG during the Neo Egoist League.

Abilities

Archetype

Goal Poacher: Goal poachers are forwards who wait in the six-yard box or the penalty area for a cross, pass or loose ball and pounce to try to score a goal. The "poaching" refers to the fact that they will often score a goal out of the slightest of opportunities i.e. steal a goal. Goal poachers usually play as centre forwards or second strikers.

Shido has an uncanny ability to be able to find and poach almost any kind of goal from anywhere in the penalty area even from a seemingly impossible zone or dead position. Shido also takes a lot of his shots in midair and can even do so without looking, a testament to his skill as a poacher. He is an expert at producing monstrous goals from inadequate positions and it is his signature style of play.

Skills

Superior Football Technique: Shido is one of two players in Blue Lock who have top tier stats, along with Rin Itoshi. During the Third Selection, he scored an average 2 goals a game, the highest of any player besides Rin. His physical dominance, ball control, power, and kick accuracy are only rivalled by a handful of players. Though Rin can be described similarly, what separates the two is Shido's confidence in scoring goals alone, even causing a physical altercation if his experience of the game is hampered in any way, whilst Rin combines with his environment to score. Shido's skill and ego are so advanced that he was recognized by Sae, a genius of the professional world, and asked to join him on the Japan U-20 team. With Sae's guidance, Shido is able to evolve his level of play to new heights, scoring outrageous goals and forming a deadly duo that the Blue Lock Eleven struggled to deal with.

Extreme Spatial Awareness: Shido's main ability is his extreme spatial perception. As opposed to other types of spatial awareness, that take into account player's positions and weapons, Shido's spatial awareness is geared towards the goal at all times. This is the key to his perfect scoring ability within the penalty area, since Shido is able to "see" the goal whenever he is in the penalty area, even without physically facing it. In addition to this, when he is in flow, Shido is able to perceive he location of the goal even outside the range of the penalty area.

Dominant Physicality: Shido is physically the strongest and most dominant player in Blue Lock. His physical strength alone is enough to nearly crush Gurimu Igarashi's skull and kick back Rensuke Kunigami, another physically dominant player. Shido is able to circumvent his opponent's defense, constantly leveraging his superior physical ability over them by breaking past them in an off the ball fight with his movements, using his body and theirs to create momentum to break past them, or by jumping over them altogether.

  • Aggressive Dribble: Shido uses his physical strength to move across the field erratically, either with the ball at his feet or without it. These movements can confuse even his teammates, along with his opponents.

Reflex: Shido is able to reflexively take into account his position and his opponent's, to leverage his weapons for an ideal shot. His reflexes and speed grant him the ability to get to any point on the field faster than others could and his natural ability to use all of his body parts optimally allows for him to perform incredible physical feats that are uncommon even to those at Blue Lock. He has shown this multiple times, but most notably when he scored a goal in the Japan U-20 match, instantly reacting to Sae's high-speed pass. It is Shido's unrivaled instincts that make him such a potent scorer in and around the penalty area, establishing him as one of the most dangerous strikers in Blue Lock.

Drive Shot: An accurate and powerful shot that is usually used from range, serving as Shido's main method of scoring. Shido is able to perform a drive shot from a multitude of positions, whether it is unfavourable or not. Shido is able to avoid having to reset his positioning by using his superior physique and immense reflex to make the Drive Shot.

  • Bicycle Kick: An acrobatic strike where a player kicks an airborne ball rearward in mid-air. Bicycle kicks can be used defensively to clear away the ball from the goalmouth or offensively to strike at the opponent's goal in an attempt to score. Shido firsts performs this move in his debut match against Kunigami and Reo and scores an effortless goal on Kunigami, breaking down his defense completely.
  • No-Look Goal: A skill that few strikers in the world can pull off; Shido jumps for the ball while turned away from goal and instinctively takes a shot without looking. This shot is incredibly fast and unpredictable, making it hard to react to.
  • High-Spin Drive Shot: When receiving the ball with his back to goal, Shido backs into an opponent and uses his physical strength to hold them in place, using their body weight to rotate on the spot and rising into an incredibly quick shooting motion.
  • Dragon Drive: A shot made possible when combining his extreme reflexes with Sae's. While running at top speed, Shido leaps around an opposing defender and executes a jumping volley while using his signature kick, the Drive Shot. This shot was powerful and fast enough to score from outside the penalty area with little reaction from the other players on the field.

Flow State: Flow, as described by Ego, is the state of "total immersion" or "being in the zone". It is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

Ryusei entered Flow in the middle of the Japan U-20 match, being inspired by the passes he received from Sae and being pressured by the Blue Lock Eleven defense. This lead to him pushing his physical and perceptive abilities to their extremes and scoring a super goal.

  • Big Bang Drive: When he enters 'FLOW', Shido is able to push his spatial awareness past its limit, 'feeling' the location of the goal and performing a long range bicycle kick, which lands directly in the goal. He used this to score directly from a clearance without having to reset his positioning in the U-20 match.

Reo Mikage

Reo is the heir of the Mikage Corporation, with his total assets valued at 705.8 billion yen or $6.8 billion dollars. Prior to entering Blue Lock, he was a student at an elite high school, where he met his first long term friend, Seishiro Nagi, and he started playing soccer shortly after with him due to Nagi's amazing skills and Reo's craving to go further in football. Being a young man with everything, his one and only desire is to win the Football World Cup.

When he first arrived at Blue Lock, Reo was a member of Team V and arguably the second best player in his designated stratum. He played as a centerback for the Blue Lock Eleven against the Japan U-20 and currently plays as center midfielder for Manshine City in the Neo Egoist League.

Abilities

Archetype

  • Box-to-box midfielder: Box-to-box midfielders help with almost every aspect of the game. They need immense stamina as they need to cover most areas of the pitch, as well as some degree of passing skills. They would be up one end of the pitch assisting the attack one moment then back helping to defend around their own penalty area the next. They normally play as central midfielders but any of the midfield players may have this attribute.

For all of the teams he has played with, Reo acts an anchor and starting point for all major plays his team performs and is a great player who is good at organizing plays based on knowledge of the player's on the field and his experience in football. After playing the Japan U-20 and training with England's Manshine City, Reo has incorporated all the skills he has learned from the positions he has played into a singular style that make him a strong and variable player who can start any kind of play.

Skills

Dexterity: Despite not being involved in soccer from a very young age, Reo is very skilled at all aspects of the sport. He has excellent passing, shooting, dribbling, and ball control capabilities (among other skills). He also has high physical capabilities, with good stamina and speed. He is a well-rounded and excellent player, being considered as a 'Jack of All Trades'. On many occasions, it has been stated that if most people in Blue Lock have low skill levels in some of their stats and extremely high skill levels in other areas, then Reo has nearly perfect stats across the board.

The Chameleon: Using his all-rounder skills, excellent soccer abilities and sense, and his 99/100 stats across all his various skills, Reo is able to emulate the abilities that other players have demonstrated. Reo uses his nearly perfect skills to be able to understand how others, who are specialized in certain areas, are able to produce certain abilities. Using this understanding, he is able to recreate these abilities on his own. The only downside of this ability is that Reo can only copy skills and abilities that are within his physical capability and that are not a natural physical talent such as Ryusei Shido's extreme physical moves or Hyoma Chigiri's insane speed.

  • Long Pass: Copied from Meguru Bachira.
  • Gyro Shot: Copied from Kenyu Yukimiya.
  • Total Defence: Copied from Oliver Aiku.
  • Physical Pressure: Copied from Kazuma Niou.
  • Trap Shot (Pass): Copied from Seishiro Nagi.

Neo Chameleon Strike Mode: Taking his Chameleon Style one step further, Reo uses his nearly perfect skills to copy high level plays that allow Reo to move as a striker and score his own goals. He flawlessly steals the ball, breaks through the defense of Bastard Munchen, and almost scores a goal using this new style in the Neo Egoist League in the first minutes of a game.

Seishiro Nagi

When he first arrived to Blue Lock he was a member of Team V and was the best player in his designated stratum. After the Blue Lock Eleven played against the Japan U-20, Nagi is ranked as one of the top players in Blue Lock. Nagi currently plays rightwing for Manshine City in the Neo Egoist League.

Abilities

Archetype

  • Creative Midfielder: Creative midfielders are midfield players that are able to create goal-scoring opportunities for the team often in situations where nothing seems likely. They usually have good ball control, passing ability and movement and will be blessed with vision and on-the-ball intelligence.

With Nagi's, perfect ball control, flexible movements, and technical ability he is able to breathe life into even the most difficult or hopeless plays. He alone has made the most outrageous goals in Blue Lock due to this skill and he continues to evolve into a creative playmaker. After training with Manshine City and coming to understand his strengths and weaknesses more, Nagi is much stronger physically, has more refined trapping and ball control, and personally takes the initiative in creating his own plays instead of just being a part of someone else's.

Skills

Perfect Ball Control: In football, to be in control of the ball is of great importance to every level of player. The ability to control an awkward bouncing ball quickly and effectively gives the player with the ball the immediate advantage. The first touch is often the difference between success and failure in most situations during the match. Nagi has exceptional ball control and demonstrates it on a constant basis by setting up traps and scoring with near pin-point accuracy. He constantly scores high level shots, especially in unfavorable positions, when under pressure from tough opponents. One of his most impressive feats is when he performed a fake volley shot. His ability to control the ball is only rivaled by Itoshi Rin and Tabito Karasu and is one of the few things that escapes Rin's logic. Because of his natural sense for controlling the ball with his own body, Nagi is a truly prodigal talent, being one of the top players in Blue Lock despite only having recently started playing football, shortly before the program. After undergoing analysis by Chris Prince, Nagi understands the fundamentals of his ball control and has become more refined.

  • First Touch Pass: Using his exceptional ball control, Nagi is able to use his first touch to make a creative pass to a teammate. Nagi often comes up new ways of laying off the ball, whether it be with his chest or the tip/side/heel of his foot. What makes Nagi such a creative player is his ability to turn any kind of pass into a potential attack. No matter the quality or attributes of the pass he is sent, he can pass it effectively into a dangerous area. This skill has been demonstrated numerous times, most notably when he controlled Isagi's difficult pass during the match against the Japan U-20, using his heel to flick the ball on to a charging Isagi, over the heads of the U-20 defense.

Trapping: Even before Blue Lock, Nagi has had exceptional trapping ability, being able to trap a cell phone in mid air, whilst jumping down a flight of stairs. This feat in itself was so impressive that Reo immediately recognised his talent for football and decided to make him his partner. He can trap with his entire body, with deadly efficiency, constantly finding ways to turn a bad situation into something favorable. Nagi has trapped the ball using his toes, heels and even his back, demonstrating the versatility of his trapping. He can trap virtually any object and he often uses his trapping to manipulate and confuse his opponents when making a run down the field; Which combines with his spatial awareness to place himself at the best point possible for amazing traps and follow up shots. After training in the Neo Egoist League, Nagi's trapping has evolved with him being able to trap while being pressured by two defenders and trap a high power close pass while moving at great speeds easily.

  • Creative Trap: When Nagi approaches the ball with a defender behind him, he can use his first touch to flick the ball over their shoulder and dodge past them. Isagi described this as a creating trap, which blows life into a play.
  • Black Hole Trap: Alternatively, if Nagi is not pressured by his opponent he can use an absorbing trap, catching the ball in mid-air and killing it's momentum. This gives him the time and space to set up his next play.
  • Trap Shot: This is his most common skill and he frequently uses it in his matches. Nagi first performs a trap with the ball, whether it is in motion or not. From this point he kills the velocity and momentum of the ball so he can manipulate the ball and make a pinpoint shot that breaks the defense of the opposing team and scores an effortless point.
  • Zero Reset Turn: While being pressured by multiple defenders, Nagi is able to hold them back while perfectly trapping an incoming ball then turning instantly to move the ball away from the defenders and charge through them, resetting the flow of the game midplay.
  • Juggling Shot: After trapping a ball while moving and giving it airtime, Nagi is able to relax his body in midair, move his legs around the ball, and kicking the ball with extreme force performing a monstrous volley shot.

Flow State (Incomplete): Flow, as described by Ego, is the state of "total immersion" or "being in the zone". It is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

Nagi has entered Flow State numerous times in Blue Lock sometimes intentionally and others times unintentionally but he has still yet to master it. His most impressive feat in Flow State was the Fake Volley Shot.

  • 2 Stage Fake Volley Shot: First performed in the rematch between Isagi's Team White vs. Rin's Team Red, when Nagi was pressured to score and prove his worth on the field in such a high level game. Nagi starts by setting up a high powered shot from an incoming pass but at the last second changes the angle of the shot to send the ball spinning in the air. The speed of the ball's spin makes it float in place, allowing Nagi to follow up with a high powered shot. Rin himself could not predict or counter the move and it was good enough to provoke him into getting serious. Anri when she first saw it described it as a miracle but Ego suggested it was a move possible because of Flow State.

Shoei Baro

Baro is a very selfish and arrogant type of forward who strives to be the star of the field at all times. When first arriving at Blue Lock, he was a member of Team X during First Selection and tied for top scorer in his designated stratum.

After the Blue Lock Eleven played against the Japan U-20, Baro is ranked as one of the top players in Blue Lock.

Abilities

Archetype:

  • Complete Forward: Complete Forwards are strikers with great technical ability, clinical finishing and physical strength, enabling them to fulfil multiple roles. They can link up with and play in others, fashion chances for themselves, finish off team moves and hold up the ball. These players are often best given the freedom to play as they wish, without rigid tactical instruction, as their versatility allows them to be fluid on the pitch.

Baro's physique enables him to hold up the ball and physically contest other players. His charging ability allows him to dribble and create chances for himself. His shooting and villainous style enable him to finish off team moves, by devouring his teammates. Baro has one of the best physiques in Blue Lock, as well as having one of the best techniques at his age in Japan, as stated by Anri Teieri. Often Baro is given the freedom to play and devour who he wishes on the field, as shown during the Second Selection, as well as by Ego telling Baro to disregard the team's plan and focus on devouring Isagi against the Japan U-20.

Skills:

Middle Shot: Baro's main method of scoring is his powerful and accurate shot, from a position near the middle of the goal. Baro can target the top right corner with incredible reliability, being almost guaranteed to score within a specific area of the goal (29 meters, near the middle). When outside of this specific area however, Baro's accuracy can decrease sharply. He has performed this shot directly from kick off, although it was saved. He has also shown that he can change the aim of the shot, to the top left corner, but this again suffers from a decrease in accuracy. And finally, he performed this shot when he was too far to the side of his range and it hit the post.

Charging Skill: Baro has the ability to create the space for his own shots, by charging through an opponent's defense and into a range for his middle shot. He has multiple attributes and techniques which contribute to his overall charging ability. Baro was able to charge through two of the Iron Wall Quartet, while holding them back, to steal a goal.

  • Superior Physicality: Baro is one of the handful of forwards in Blue Lock who has a very strong and muscular physique and he uses this to his advantage when driving the ball down the field or marking players to defend. Baro's physique, as noted by Isagi, is incredible, maintained by a diligent and extensive workout routine that Baro performs before practice. This enables him to leverage his physicality against opposing players to create the space he needs, even managing to charge through a pile up of players with the ball at his feet.
  • Heel Flick: Baro overcomes the opponent's defense by flicking the ball up and over them and recovering the ball on its landing, demonstrating strong technical ability.
  • Nutmeg: Baro has demonstrated the ability to nutmeg at least two players in quick succession, in order to get through their defense.

Flow State: Flow, as described by Ego, is the state of "total immersion" or "being in the zone". It is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

Villainous Soccer: A selfish and unpredictable playing style, which involves Baro "devouring" his own teammates for the sake of his own goal. On the field, Baro will look to where he can steal the ball from his teammates, to capitalise on their positioning and devour them. He can also take this a step further, by observing the way his team evolves their plays and interrupting that process, which he did to score a goal in the U-20 match. Baro developed this playing style when he was forced to go to a new level, at the prospect of Isagi stealing his in the spotlight. This style makes Baro a complete irregularity on the field, making it impossible for even Rin to predict his movements. In fact, the more knowledgeable the opponent is about football, the more likely they are to be overcome by this ability, as it circumvents all conventional wisdom of the sport.

  • Chop Feint: A feint wherein which a player uses their off foot to shield the ball, whilst knocking the ball in the other direction with their other foot, effectively misdirecting the opposing player. Baro frequently uses this skill to supplement his charging ability, enabling him to keep his opponent's guessing as to which direction he is going to dribble.
  • Lightning Dribble: By making use of chop feints, continuous rebounds, and angled dribbles, Baro is able to perform a mazy dribble that is incredibly difficult to stop. Baro has also demonstrated the ability to use other players as screens, to get past opponents, a testament to the 'villainous' football he adopted.
  • Sliding Shot: By manoeuvring into a position where he can intercept a pass, Baro uses his physical strength to exploit the pass and perform a shot at the same time, supporting himself on one knee. He was able to score whilst holding off both Miroku Darai and Kazuma Niou.

Rensuke Kunigami

He is a hot blooded forward who's main goal is to become the best striker in the world and in turn a football superhero. When first arriving at Blue Lock he was member of Team Z during the First Selection. He was ranked #50 out of the original 300 forwards chosen to be a part of the Blue Lock Project when he was eliminated from Blue Lock during the final games of Second Selection by Ryusei Shidou but instead of leaving the facility he walked into a mysterious "Wild Card" door that was open to him.

After the U-20 match ended, Kunigami finally returned from the "Wild Card" door and during the Neo Egoist League he played as forward for Bastard München.

Abilities

Archetype:

  • Clinical Finisher: Clinical finishers are forwards that specialize in their accurate shooting ability. They are "clinical" in that they need few opportunities to score a goal being able to strike and place the ball exactly where it will beat the goalkeeper. They can be identified by their high goal to shots ratio. Clinical strikers usually play as center forwards though other attacking players can often be said to be clinical finishers.

Being a high powered left footed shooter, Kunigami is a rare type of striker. Kunigami was tied for top scorer on Team Z during the First Selection, and only because another teammate cheated to get their goals to tie with him. When left unmarked he is guaranteed to make an easy goal. After emerging from his time in Wild Card, Kunigami's physical abilities have been noted to have skyrocketed since his last appearance in Second Selection and he can now use both feet to score albeit his non-dominant kick being weaker. While the rest of the Germany Stratum Blue Lock players struggled to compare to the Bastard Munchen players, Kunigami easily kept up with them during training and ranked amongst the top 3 players in the entire stratum.

Skills

Finesse Shot: Kunigami has a near pinpoint power shot, specifically from his left leg, that he uses to score incredibly powerful shots with his standard range for shooting being within 28 meters.

  • Knuckle Shot: From almost 40 meters away from the net, Kunigami shoots with such intense force that he kills the spin of the ball allowing for the shot to curve.
  • Mid-Range Power Shot: When in possession of the ball and holding off two defenders, Kunigami is able to push past his defenders while opening up space for himself and shooting a high powered shot with his right foot, almost scoring an effortless shot
  • Jumping Volley Shot: Kunigami jumps using his physical strength and performs a volley shot while in the air. This shot was performed after Isagi took a bad shot against Manshine City where the angle of the ball went off course and Kunigami instinctively threw himself into the path of the shot and jumped to send a volley shot into the net.

Superior Physicality: Kunigami is one of the handful of forwards in Blue Lock who has a very strong and muscular physique and he uses this to his advantage when driving the ball down the field or marking players to defend. After returning from "Wild Card" and becoming a regular on Bastard Munchen for the Neo Egoist League, Kunigami is more noticeably able to leverage his physique, by trapping the ball midair with his chest between two defenders and pushing past those defenders while holding them back so he could set up his own shot. Kunigami also has better control of his center and upper body reflexes as seen when he was able to keep up with Bachira's improved dribbling ability for a few moments during the Barcha game.

Hyoma Chigiri

Chigiri is a forward prodigy who was chained down by a leg injury in his past but he let go of his fears while at Blue Lock so he could continue playing football wholeheartedly. When first arriving at Blue Lock, Chigiri was member of Team Z. Chigiri spent half of the First Selection avoiding participation or keeping it to a bare minimum but when he was motivated by Isagi in Team Z's third game, he decided to let go of his fear and play football to become the world's best striker like his rivals. He was ranked #44 out of the original 300 forwards chosen to be part of the Blue Lock Project and is currently playing for Manshine City as a leftwing during the Neo Egoist League.

Abilities

Archetype

Counterattacker: Counterattackers are any attacking player that uses their pace to beat defenders and cause unexpected scoring opportunities at any time. They also need some degree of shooting skill. Counterattacking opportunities occur when the opposition are themselves attacking a team with most of their players forward. A counterattack happens when the ball is won back and is quickly played into space for a counterattacking player to run onto or where a player takes the ball themselves and runs with pace into a sparsely defended opposition half.

Chigiri's natural physical disposition allows him to run at incredible speeds compared to most players and along with his great focus he is able to keep control of the ball and his speed while moving through tight spaces, between players, and switching between dribbling and passing seamlessly. After training with Manshine City, Chigiri more carefully decides where he is going to cut and run as Chigiri now aims for his ideal shooting zone using his refined speed and dribbling instead of blindly into the penalty area as fast as possible.

Skills

Immense Speed: Chigiri has naturally strong leg muscles and expert footwork, which enables him to run down the field at incredible speeds. Chigiri is generally considered to be the fastest player in Blue Lock and only players with immense speed, like Ryusei Shidou, Eita Otoya, and Zantetsu Tsurugi can compete with him. While his speed is rivaled by a handful of players, as of yet, nobody has been able to beat him in a direct contest of speed. Chigiri has even sped past Oliver Aiku, the #1 defender of the Japan U-20. This speed, combined with his perception and awareness of positioning enables him to choose the appropriate breakthrough point in an opponent's defence and to speed through. In addition to this, Chigiri has demonstrated the ability to directly kick the ball and follow it, resulting in a wide dribble that can break apart an enemy's formation. It is for these reasons Chigiri has one of the best breakthrough abilities in Blue Lock.

  • Long-Distance Sprinting: While Chigiri may not have explosive acceleration like Zantestu or Ryusei, he is by far faster over long distance. Chigiri makes use of this weapon by "passing" to himself, sending the ball a long distance ahead of him (around 50 meters) and running to pick it up. As a result, he is able to break through even the tightest and strongest of defences with relative ease.
  • No-Break Dribble: Instead of trapping a pass, Chigiri bounces the ball forward without stopping his run. He then runs at breakneck speeds with the ball in tow and during the sprint accelerates even faster without losing momentum from adjustment, being unable to be stopped by anybody trying to stop him or defend the goal.
  • High-Speed Pressure: Chigiri is able to utilise his speed in a defensive manner, by quickly moving across the field to hound whoever is in possession of the ball. This pressure can force errors in opponent's and easily allows Chigiri's team to set up traps. However, this tactic is incredibly draining on Chigiri's stamina, as he cannot run for a long period of time.

44 Panther Snipe: A style Chigiri developed which combines the different skills and techniques he has learnt in Blue Lock, as well as enhancing them with the training in the Neo-Egoist League, enabling him to score goals in a way that is unique to him. First, Chigiri locates his ideal shooting zone, which is approximately 44 degrees left, 19 meters from the goal. Second, he uses his cut-in to penetrate the opponent's formation, reaching the ideal point. Third, he uses his centering technique to quickly fire a controlled shot towards the corner of the goal.

  • Mach Cut-In: Chigiri baits his opponent by remaining still, then from no motion he bursts into a cut-in, going either outside or inside the opposing defender. He can perform this move multiple times, to speed past multiple defenders and eventually reach his shooting zone.
  • Controlled Shot: Centering his body quickly, Chigiri is able to unleash a highly controlled and accurate shot into the top left corner of the goal.

Meguru Bachira

Bachira is a whimsical forward who plays following his instincts and when first arriving at Blue Lock he was a member of Team Z during First Selection. His main goal was to find soccer rivals to play with, who also have a "monster" inside of them but that later changes to becoming the best striker in the world when he overcomes his childhood trauma. After the Japan U-20 match, Bachira currently plays as center forward for FC Barcha in the Neo Egoist League.

Abilities

Archetype

Dribbler: Dribblers are players known for their close ball control ability that is used to go past defenders by sudden change of direction and acceleration sometimes combined with great pace. The skill is used to create opportunities for other attackers or to score themselves having broken through the opposition's defence using what is sometimes referred to as "trickery". One of the great spectator sights in football is a player going on a "mazy run" with the ball, twisting and turning to avoid opposition tackles, beating a number of players.

Bachira's dribbling technique allows him to break through most defenses with only high level players being able to stop him but it is very rare to see the ball stolen from him. Team Z heavily relied on his dribbling ability to get the ball down the field during First Selection. His dribbling is rivaled by only a handful of players in Blue Lock and mixed with his key passing skill he has proven to be a much needed asset on any team. After the initial training of the Neo Egoist League, Bachira has evolved his dribbling by moving away from proactive dribbling to more counteractive dribbling, preferring to read his opponents movements first, maturing in the way he moves down the field.

Skills

Elastic Dribbling: Bachira's dribbling style relies on his supreme technique and creativity to get through other player's defenses. His dribbling ability is so advanced that Isagi has noted before that it would be impossible for him to outright steal the ball in a one-on-one.

  • Egotistical Style: During the Second Selection, Bachira evolved his dribbling to a new egoistic style, where he refuses to pass the ball, prefeering to move dynamically past defenders alone. If his team will not challenge his expectations then he does not care to have them in his plays. This was demonstrated to devastating effect when he dribbled past Isagi and then proceeded to take on all three of Chigiri, Baro and Nagi, breaking past them all to go through on goal and once again when he single handedly broke past the entire Japan U-20 defense. After training under Ravinho and with FC Barcha, Bachira has decided to mix his dynamic and explosive dribbling with the free flowing style of FC Barcha creating a whole new egotist style.
  • Hyperspeed Scissors: Bachira performs a scissor feint at incredible speed, making it hard to follow.
  • Marseille Turn: In order to get around an opponent, Bachira performs a roulette, almost immediately after his scissor feints.
  • Midair Elastico: Bachira can perform the complex elastico dribble, while the ball is in the air, drawing in his opponents to try to steal the ball, before breaking past them.
  • Rabona: Bachira kicks the ball where his kicking leg is crossed behind the back of his standing leg. He has managed to kick the ball over an incoming defender while doing this.
  • Nutmeg: During the Second Selection, Bachira was able to perform a triple nutmeg on Isagi, Chigiri and Baro, all in succession, demonstrating his technical ability.
  • Double Touch Feint: Bachira performs hyper speed scissors and flows into a one-two touch feint.
  • Aerial Rush Turn: Coming off of a double touch feint, Bachira moves towards the opponent and while maintaining top speed turns on the ball and rotates around the defender easily breaking through their defense.

Key Passing: Bachira is also a very talented passer, enabling him to assist many different goals. He has, on multiple occasions, gotten an assist by crossing from the wings, as well as passing from the midfield. He also has demonstrated a range of passing techniques.

  • High Speed Ground Pass: An quick pass with incredible top spin, that bounces across the ground.
  • No-Look Pass: Bachira uses the Rabona technique to pass, without looking.
  • Long-Range Backspin Pass: Bachira can perform a long range pass, travelling nearly 60 meters, with backspin, allowing the ball to hug the ground whilst rising up. This pass is best used in a chemical reaction with a tall player, who can intercept the ball in its flight path, rather than on the ground.
  • Quick Cross: Using the movements of another player as a precursor, Bachira fires a quick cross into the box which can only be met at great speed. He used this to assist Rin's goal against the Team World Five.
  • Heel Lift Pass: While running with the ball in tow and into defenders who begin pressing him, Bachira quickly lifts the ball with his back heel over their heads swiftly passing it to a teammate to avoid the press.
  • Bee Shot: After swiftly passing the ball to his teammates and running through defenders, Bachira receives the ball again and makes a close free form shot that is too quick to react to.

Flow State: Flow, as described by Ego, is the state of "total immersion" or "being in the zone". It is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

Bachira has unintentionally and intentionally entered Flow State numerous times during Blue Lock, as early as the First Selection. In this state he has performed a triple nutmeg on some of the best players in Blue Lock and has broken through their defense with ease almost scoring all by himself if not for the confidence and respect his opponent had in his skill which caused them to intercept him.

Monstrance: When he enters the Flow State, Bachira enters a challenge-centred trance, performing techniques incredibly quickly, including multiple feints and moving purely on instinct. Since he moves without conscious thought, it is incredibly difficult to predict and stop for the defenders. In this state, Bachira was able to easily overcome the U20 defenders and even Oliver Aiku. Bachira has evolved this further by being able to go into Monstrance at will and even combining his explosive style with the free and flowing Ginga style of Ravinho being able to produce even more explosively creative plays.

  • Monster x Ginga: After fusing Lavinho's Ginga style with his Monstertrance, Bachira evolves his dribbling to be even more explosive, free flowing, and unpredictable.
  • Trick Break: After waiting and reading his opponent Bachira lunges towards a defender, performing a chop dribble between his legs while hugging the defender using their posture to limit their response and push himself forward with the ball. When the defender attempts to respond, Bachira is able to push off the defender with ease while still following the ball and counteracting any further stops.
  • Monster Lift: Bachira is able to perform an audacious lift, by first lifting the ball and moving into a shooting motion, before kicking the ball downwards with force and topspin. Upon bouncing, the ball spins over the head of the defender, for Bachira to chase down. Bachira used this to great effect against Aiku.

Yoichi Isagi

Isagi second-year student and previously played as a forward for the Ichinan High School football team. When first arriving at Blue Lock he was a member of Team Z during First Selection. His main goal is to become the world's best striker. After the Blue Lock Eleven played against the Japan U-20, Isagi is ranked as one of the top players in Blue Lock and plays as an offensive midfielder on Bastard München during the Neo Egoist League.

Abilities

Archetype

Raumdeuter: The word essentially translates to “space investigator”, and is best used to define the German’s effective role when exploiting the half space. A Raumdeuter’s main function is to drift infield and find pockets of space in which to thrive; it is essentially a player who locates dangerous areas of the pitch and uses unoccupied space to create confusion among opposition backlines. They are limited dribblers, and are not characterized by their pace. Their first touch is very efficient, and is a huge contributor to their set-up touches prior to scoring.

Isagi creates ideals plays and chance opportunities by using his spatial awareness to view the field as a whole and the players on it. With his understanding of all the players he uses his off the ball movements to occupy empty spaces or create dangerous ones to form ideal plays for his teammates, chance opportunities using his teammates, and to score high level goals for himself. Due to his relationships and game time with most of the prominent Blue Lock players, Isagi is able to bring the best out of his teammates by either forcing them to perform plays so he can attack or by them pushing themselves to exceed Isagi's evolving skill. He has been noted to be the heart of Blue Lock by Sae Itoshi and implied to be that by Ego. His skills are highly recognized and respected by a majority of Blue Lock, even Jinpachi Ego comments publicly on his ability. As of the Neo Egoist League, Isagi is recognized as the ace of Blue Lock.

Skills

Spatial Awareness: Isagi instinctually begins to analyze the entire field, giving him a vast understanding of the game, including his opponents and teammates’ weapons. Based on this understanding, Isagi can make accurate predictions as to the flow of the game. These premonitions then allow him to envision an ideal play mid-game and execute it. His spatial awareness is among the highest in Blue Lock, often rivaling and sometimes surpassing other player's own visions, such as Niko and Rin.

  • Goal Scent: Using his spatial awareness, Isagi instinctively recognizes the “scent of a goal” that is emitted off of key players from his prediction and is able to expertly send them the ball so they may score.
  • Adaptability (適応能力 Tekiō Nōryoku?): It was noted by Naruhaya that Isagi is a genius in terms of adaptability. By understanding the core of both his teammate's and opponent's football, Isagi can adapt his style to either devour or counter their talent. The best example of this is when he "devoured" Naruhaya's off the ball movements and ability to exploit blind spots. This was also seen when he adapted to devour Baro and exploit his weaknesses in order to score. Perhaps Isagi's greatest feat of adaptation was when he was able to adjust his plan to defeat Rin, taking into account his physical advantages, and predicting the actions Rin would take to block his shot.

Direct Shot (直撃蹴弾ダイレクトシュート Dairekuto Shūto?, Direct Shoot): Isagi first assesses the positions of defenders and the trajectory of the ball, then lands a powerful kick on the ball's impact point in order to score a clean goal. In doing this, Isagi avoids having to overthink his positioning and next move and can just score a clean shot with no interference. It was noted by Nagi that Isagi has no wasted motion when performing his shot, implying that Isagi performs it with flawless technique and control.

  • Back Heel Shot: Isagi first assesses the positions of defenders and feints a direct shot in anticipation for his opponent's block. Then he lands a powerful backwards kick on the ball's impact point in order to score a clean shot. This move was first used against Itoshi Rin, during their rematch in the Second Selection, which surprised everyone on the field.

Off the Ball Movements: A term used to describe the moments where players are not in possession of the ball. Isagi may use these moments to position himself in his opponents’ blind spots, position himself in a place where he can deceive the opposition and be a decoy for his teammates shots, or to position himself close enough to a teammate to pull off super close back to back passing that can breakthrough an enemy's defense.

  • Positioning: Mirroring Rin, Isagi is able to use his positioning to exploit luck during a game. If he realises the ball will not be passed to him, Isagi will move to an opportune location, where he is in the blind spot of his opponent and where he would be able to score directly off of a direct shot. He used this to score the decisive goal in the match against the U-20

Reflex (反射的 Hanshateki?): Isagi, as of the match against the Japan U-20, has begun to consciously incorporate reflex into his playmaking. Isagi is able to use his awareness of the conditions of the field to find spaces of opportunity, either to attack the opponent's goal or defend his own. He used this to instinctively move to a position where he could use a Direct Shot, after passing to Nagi, he used this to read Sae's corner kick, by taking into account Sae's pass, as well as Rin's and Shidou's positioning, and he also demonstrated this ability at the end of Japan U-20 match when he by reflex moved to the ball while in the blindspots of the Japan U-20 defense, scoring a powerful direct shot.

Metavision (超越視界メタ・ビジョン Meta Bijon?, Transcendence Sight): A term used to describe a player's evolved vision that gives them an omnipotent perspective of the field. Using his eyes to constantly take in information from his central and peripheral vision, Isagi constantly collects data on every player, every play they make, and their positions on the field. After analyzing Michael Kaiser's goal formula, Isagi adopted Kaiser's transcendent use of his vision into his own style of play and mixed with his spatial awareness, positioning, and reflex Isagi is able to swiftly predict and shut down the plays of some of the best Blue Lock players and further create ideal situations for his own goals using his teammates in a way that is only possible for him.

Flow State: Flow, as described by Ego, is the state of "total immersion" or "being in the zone". It is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

Isagi's Flow state involves Isagi constantly using all of his weapons at once to read the field and the distortions caused by the players on it. With his metavision, he complexly reads the field and identifies distortions then takes advantage of these distortions with his spatial awareness and reflex and either mounts a surprise ironclad defense or a swift and unstoppable attack. Isagi has unintentionally entered Flow State numerous times during Blue Lock, even as early as the First Selection, though his most impressive feat in Flow was stealing the ball from Nagi at the very beginning of Manshine City's play and immediately beginning a counterattack that was unstoppable and near unreadable by the entire field leading to a goal.

Rin Itoshi

Rin is the younger brother of Sae Itoshi and started playing football with him at a young age. Rin has played as a forward on every team he was on, always being one of the top players. In Blue Lock, Rin is regarded as the best player until he is officially confirmed to be the #1 player by Jinpachi Ego at the beginning of Third Selection. Rin's main goal is to become the world's best striker. He use to be fixated on defeating his brother in soccer and in turn getting revenge on him for abandoning their shared dream but after the Blue Lock Eleven played against the Japan U-20 he let go of his revenge and decided to change so that he may become the world's best striker, defeating anybody in his path. Rin is an ideal candidate for the type of striker Ego strives to create and after the Japan U-20 match, Rin is ranked as one of the top players in Blue Lock. Rin currently plays as regular on PXG during the Neo Egoist League.

Abilities

Archetype

Playmaker: A player who controls the flow of the team's offensive play, and is often involved in passing moves which lead to goals, through their vision, technique, ball control, creativity, and passing ability.

When he was younger, Rin was an instinctual player but being trained and guided by his brother made him develop a notably logical and predictive style of playing. Whether on offense or defense, Rin's playstyle consists of him grasping the abilities of both his teammates and his opponents and forcing out their best plays and abilities, manipulating them in his efforts to score goals for himself.

Skills

Superior Football Technique: Rin is one of two players in Blue Lock who has top tier stats, along with Ryusei Shidou. During the Third Selection, he scored an average 2.5 goals a game, which was the highest among the Top 6. His spatial awareness, ball control, power, and kick accuracy are only rivaled by a handful of players. Though Shidou can be described similarly, the thing that makes Rin the best in Blue Lock is his willingness to cooperate with and create chemical reactions with his teammates, while Shidou scores goals completely independently. Rin's experience and techniques are advanced enough that he is able to play the role of captain, act as the focal point for an offense, play in defense and even overcome high-level defenders, using their own strengths against them.

Perfect Kick Accuracy: Rin's primary weapon is his highly accurate kick. His shooting/passing accuracy is near perfect, as demonstrated when he kicked two balls in such a way that they travelled different trajectories, yet still hit each other in mid-air. Rin's kicks are so accurate that he is able to score from long distance; Isagi implied that he could potentially score from anywhere below 35 meters, free kicks and even directly from corner kicks. Even when being physically pressured by players like Shidou Ryusei or Tabito Karasu, he is able to make a pinpoint shot. Oliver Aiku notes that his shot power and accuracy decrease when he uses his left foot, but in most conditions where Rin can get off a shot, it is on target. Rin needs space and range to set up his shooting pattern, the denial of which can result in his shot being off. However, he uses his other weapons to find himself with plenty of both, making him one of the top scorers in Blue Lock.

  • Pinpoint High Speed Free Kick: Rin fires a blazing fast free kick, with incredible accuracy. This free kick was so fast and accurate that it went right over Isagi's head, without giving him a chance to react.
  • Vertical Spinning Direct Shot: A direct shot from the corner spot, which targets the furthest top corner of the goal. This shot can take players off guard if they do not expect it, thought it can be prevented through positioning.
  • Line Drive Shot: Rin attempted to replicate his brother's shot, by dribbling to the byline and using his left foot to fire the ball over the goalkeeper and into the far side netting. However, the decrease in shot power and accuracy meant his shot was saved and hit the post.
  • Jump Shot: After feinting to circumvent an opponent's defence, Rin lifts the ball and performs a jumping roundhouse kick. With this technique, Rin is able to both shoot with frightening accuracy and evade a challenge from an opponent.
  • Blind Shot: Rin takes advantage of the movements of another player to shield the ball from the keeper's vision, before firing a blind shot that the keeper cannot react to in time.
  • Trivela (Shot): A technique wherein which one puts spin on the ball using the outside of their foot. Rin hides his form, to force the assumption that he will shoot with his left foot, before shooting with his right. Rin is able to do this and score from outside the penalty area, as demonstrated against the Japan U-20.
  • Trivela (Pass): A technique wherein which one puts spin on the ball using the outside of their foot. Rin can use this technique to pass the ball, manipulating the opponent into thinking his pass has missed, only for it spin back to its destination.
  • Oppressive Pass: Rin makes a difficult pass to his teammate in order to continue a play. He will usually play this pass into the optimal space for his teammate to retrieve it and return the pass (in the case of Aryu) or into the space where he expects his teammate to breakthrough (in the case of Bachira). This pass, as opposed to a more creative one, challenges the limitations of Rin's team, forcing them to rise to meet his expectations.

Spatial Awareness: Rin analyzes the entire field, including the positions of himself, his teammates and his opponents, in order to determine the best play. Rin's tactical ability and spatial awareness are at such a level that only Isagi can understand, counter, and rival his analytical ability. Rin is routinely able to predict the positioning and movements of other players, including Isagi, setting up traps and baits to lure them into unfavorable positions, intercepting their plays and setting up his own.

  • Spacing: By reading the weapon of his opponent, as well as the positions of other players on the field, Rin spaces himself in such a way as to allow for him to predict and respond to whatever they decide to do.
  • Synchronization: Rin is also able to use his spatial awareness defensively, through reading and understanding the core of his opponent's football he can overlap his thoughts with theirs to predict what they will do next. He used this to halt the combined offense of Sae and Shidou during the U-20 match. However, focusing solely on playing defensively makes it difficult for him to join the offense to score his own goals.

Off the Ball Movements: A term used to describe the moments where players are not in possession of the ball. Rin makes use of these movements to position himself in an opponent's blind spot, as well as to manoeuvre into goal scoring positions. He does this after determining the field of view of the players on the pitch, similar to Isagi.

  • Positioning: Rin has incredible positioning, constantly moving to areas where he can receive the ball in space and still be able to score a goal. If Rin realises that he will not receive a pass, he always positions himself in a place where he would be able to score if he should receive the ball by chance. He demonstrated this positioning during the Second Selection, as well as during the U-20 match. Rin also uses this defensively, in combination with his spatial awareness. After using his spacing, Rin gives himself enough room to predict where the opponent will likely break through, then uses his positioning to intercept them.
  • Super-Speed Interlock: By using the movements of another player as a precursor, Rin moves into a position where he can meet a quick cross in an open space. He used this in conjunction with Bachira to score against the Team World Five.

Puppet-Controlling Soccer: Rin's main play style is about controlling and manipulating what his opponent thinks. After identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each player on the field, Rin uses his superior technique, tactical and physical ability to manipulate them into scenarios that will result in a goal. He can do this by using his own abilities against the opponent, or by combining his strengths with his team's. This style of soccer, pushes his team's abilities to their limits and beyond, resulting in highly complex and effective passages of play that often result in a goal.
  • Feints: By positioning himself at a range where he can shoot, Rin manipulates his opponent into thinking he will shoot. This draws in the opponent to attempt a block, before he feints in order to bypass them. Rin can also use this in reverse. By changing his form and hiding his motion he fools his opponent into thinking he won't shoot, before he does.
  • Marseille Turn: After manipulating his opponent into thinking he will perform a regular feint, Rin transitions into a roulette, to get around their defence.
  • Elastico Nutmeg: Rin knocks the ball sideways with the outside of his foot, in order to force a challenge from his opponent, before using the inside of his foot to push the ball between their legs and get past them. He used this to get past Sendo.

Flow State: Flow, as described by Ego, is the state of "total immersion" or "being in the zone". It is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

  • Opposite Acceleration: When facing someone with speed as their weapon, Rin knocks the ball to the side, in order to bait their acceleration forward, before he suddenly accelerates in the opposite direction, nutmegging them in the process. He used this to get by Neru.
  • Off the Ball Movements: When facing someone with off the ball movements as their weapon, Rin will cross them multiple times to get in behind, before using his hand to prevent them from turning around to stop him. He used this to get by Darai.
  • Centre of Gravity Full Burst: When facing someone with core strength as their weapon, Rin will force a physical pressure duel, knocking the ball up as bait. When they charge in, Rin will shift to stance with a low centre of gravity, to break their balance, using their own charge against them. He used this to get by Niou.
